If you have too many loops, and enough power, you're going to turn the entire building into a magnet.
Do it.

That sounds awesome...

• #4104
either previous version or another amp. I have no issues with them.
-
• #4105
Good to know, ta! I wasn't trying to suggest there was an issue or that they weren't a good choice - I must have been getting confused, or was maybe worrying about nothing in the first place.
-
• #4106
70v/100v system might make things way easier? Or do you need that many different sources?
-
• #4107
Oh wait have only just seen how much those amps are. Cool project. Sounds good.

speakers
I can't recommend a particular set, but I would definitely recommend ceiling speakers for the bathroom and kitchen. They will mainly come in white, some can also be painted. It's unlikely that you'll ever get full on amazballs audio fidelity - but with an extractor fan or shower going, so what?
-
• #4109
Think will probably do ceiling in the bathroom, Kitchen is awkward as it is a open L-shaped kitchen\breakfast room, which is about 30m2 so needs quite a few speakers to get round all the corners.

South African-ism about issues... I mean I find them good.
-
• #4111
Understood - they do look good. I thought I had looked at one those amps (or a similar model) a while ago, and had got lost down the rabbit hole of speaker compatibility, is all - I got confused about what speakers would get the best out of them and gave up in the end, but this is probably just my lack of understanding of the technical stuff...
Out of interest, what speakers have you run with them and what worked well?
-
• #4112
Do what TW suggested and get active speakers

More of a DJ question but looking for a compact dj controller so i can do mixes from lap top, i dont have decks set up any more, and the key is compact as dont have the space in HK for desk set up. Has any one got similar or used a good one.
-
• #4114
If you use Traktor, you won't get much more compact than this ...

I have an older version (DJ2). The pic here is the DJ4. These devices have multiple assignments for every button and knob, accessed via the shift function ... very capable.

Ta will check out, used sarato but can get hold of traktor be good to try it. 👍

^^2020i's aren't "small" in my book. They're quite deep and mounting 28 of them would be a bugger. The bespoke brackets cost about £40 a pair too.

I use a Numark Mixtrack Pro 3. It's been great for home use, house parties and also small sized warehouse parties so it's quite versatile for a cheap controller. It has full size pitch faders too which I quite like.
It uses Serato, the free version is okay but I felt it was worth paying for the full version - if you're going down this route, there are bundles available which I think makes it a bit cheaper.

Ouch. that starts adding up...
tempted to just throw out £30 rubbish ones to start with and upgrade room by room.

Do you need so many speaker pairs? If it's for critical listening then more than one pair in a room will ruin it and if you're just doing background muzak-y things then wouldn't a radio-style unit suffice?
Can you link the chromecast audios to stream to multiple rooms at once?
-
• #4120
Thanks @johnnyhotdog. Will investigate sounds good.
-
• #4121
Good point. That is the number of speaker points in each room, so don't actually have to put that many speakers in. That would reduce the investment significantly, if I just went with two speakers per room I could go down to 16 speakers...
-
• #4122
This, 14 pairs of speakers is madness, it will be like walking around a dept store / airport
-
• #4123
most rooms only have 2 x speakers in, just got a lot of rooms! so all set up in zones so would never have the whole house turn on at once.
-
• #4124
Party Mode to turn on all zones!
Add IR / motion sensors that support IFTTT in each room, for music that follows you around the house.
-
• #4125
Yep, this is all the sort of thing will be coming. our house has a ridiculous amount of tech being put into it...
Music system as above
We have Sky Q with two mini boxes, with all sky boxes in the tech cupboard, all signal being converted from HDMI and sent over Cat6 and then converted back, with Sky in every room.
Nest smart themostats and smoke alarms.
Video doorbell
wireless APs on every floor
3 x cat 6 data cables in each room.At last could we have put 35km of cable into the house...
Are these the ones that are a bit fussy about what speakers they need, though, or am I getting mixed up with another relatively low cost amp?
I recall looking into this a few years ago and getting bogged down in impedance figures until I gave up....
