  • A pal of mine is selling his c63 as he reckons it was too small with one kid, let alone the second they have just added. A shame - I love them. They are a bit lairy though.

    the version you're looking at is much better than it's predecessor - i borrowed that one a few times and it was probably one of the least comfortable cars i've been in (tdi) but the 5E 3rd gen was much better especially as it was the 230ps petrol

  • In case you hadn't heard enough about heavy money spending on 911s, my dad's 996 has succumbed to suspected bore score, it's off to Hartech for what he thinks will be a £7k engine rebuild and £3k of suspension, steering, and convertible hood refresh.

    Your question has made me feel guilty about getting a diesel ever since tho.

    Euro 6

    September 2014 (September 2015)

    The Euro 6 standard imposes a further, significant reduction in NOx
    emissions from diesel engines (a 67% reduction compared to Euro 5) and
    establishes similar standards for petrol and diesel.

    Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) – replacing some of the intake air
    (containing 80% nitrogen) with recycled exhaust gas – reduces the
    amount of nitrogen available to be oxidised to NOx during combustion
    but further exhaust after treatment may be required in addition to the
    Diesel Particulate Filters required to meet Euro 5.

    Euro 6 diesel cars may also be fitted with:

    A NOx adsorber (Lean NOx Trap) which stores NOx and reduces it to
    Nitrogen over a catalyst Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) which
    uses an additive (Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or AdBlue) containing
    urea injected into the exhaust to convert NOx into Nitrogen and water.
    The use of Cerium, a fluid injected into the fuel tank each time the
    vehicle is refuelled which assists the DPF regeneration by lowering
    the temperature needed for regeneration. Euro 6 emission limits
    (petrol)

    CO – 1.0 g/km HC – 0.10 g/km NOx – 0.06 g/km PM – 0.005 g/km (direct
    injection only) PM – 6.0x10 ^11/km (direct injection only) Euro 6
    emission limits (diesel)

    CO – 0.50 g/km HC+ NOx – 0.17 g/km NOx – 0.08 g/km PM – 0.005 g/km PM
    – 6.0x10 ^11/km

  • I'm not here to cast aspersions, my E39 is not even Euro 4 I think. It will have to go by 2019, which is when I think the extended private car LEZ will take affect. I believe that extends to within the N and S Circulars with a daily charge. So I'd have to spend a tenner just to drive my car anywhere, no resident discount on that.

    I would expect all diesel to have issues with any future regulation, both here and Europe.

    What would people think that this would be worth in three years with a) 15,000 more miles on it, and the MB service history maintained?

    At a guess £5-15k. Is red a popular colour for Mercs and/or Merc estates? To the right buyer it may be a plus, but on balance I think it would be less popular thus making it harder to sell.

    EDIT maybe that's a bit harsh. This is on for £20k
    ...but the colour and interior would be more popular imo.

  • I need a favour from someone good with manipulating images - could you take the following graph and re-draw it so that power and torque tail off from 6,800 rpm and 6,300 rpm respectively?

    i.e. peak power is ~370 bhp at 6,800 rpm, then tails off/the existing line continues on it's trajectory for a further ~500 rpm, as does the torque.

  • Why not just put the numbers you want into excel and get it to draw another graph?
