It's basically mandatory to ride a Talbot if you are with Brixton CC nowadays.

Caught up with Rimas yesterday (to lend him my batteries and charger as he is riding without a magic dynamo). He was modest as ever regarding his chances but he said he was in better shape than he had ever been, so he should be a contender for a high placing.
As long as his route is ok. When he did it the first time he CBA with route planning and just put the controls into Bikehike the night before and used it without checking. This time he said he just sat down on Wednesday and blitzed it, from 8am-2am in one sitting! He described his route for the first section. It was not the way that I would go, but he will be carrying less body weight and luggage than I would!

then again it is possible that the bag throwers will be a little more delicate cause they can see what they're actually throwing.
That's been the argument used by lots of cycle tourists for using wrapping rather than a box. They tend to travel with overbuilt steel frames though, not £5k worth of carbon.

I've ridden with Rimas before and he's quick. I mean, he should be he's carrying 30kg less than me. He was the one that called me bumblebee - scientifically speaking they shouldn't be able to fly and yet there they are...

Hey all! I'm also a tcr-er. Stumbled across this thread whilst panicking about left-until-the-last-minute route prep. I've lurked on the forum for a while, but rarely post. Thought I'd say hi.

You don't hear of more breakages with plastic bags vs hard cases, cardboard boxes, etc. I've sent my steel tourer in a plastic bag dozens of times (well maybe 1-1.5 dozen) but I'm always a bit wary with bikes with carbon forks - I try to wrap them in some pipe insulating foam or cardboard (like it would help if they were really bashed, but I feel better about it).
Fork damage is what I am wary of as fork failure often = instant death!
