Long distance road frame recommendations

  • I'm sure this has been done elsewhere. If so can someone point me there.

If not I'm looking for a frame that is di2 compatible, disc brakes, 30mm tyre clearance with guard mounts, not carbon.

Current contenders are Bowman Pilgrims, Charge Plug 3, Genesis Datum, Kinesis Racelight.

I realise some of these don't meet exact criteria but that are a starting point and I will happily drill a frame or compromise on type of guards.

Looking at frameset only for not much more than £800.

    Cheers

  • Pelago Sibbo / Stavanger ?

  • fairlight strael!

  • At £800, you're not that far off a custom steel build.

  • My Mason has been superb so far and fits your requirements.

  • Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Mason Definition has been added to the list and is the new front runner.

  • I think Hippy went through all this last year before TCR4 and went for the Kinesis I believe. That right @Hippy ?

  • Spoke to him already. @onyerbike how large a tyre am I going to get on one of these with guards? What are you running? Ideally I'd be looking at Hunts and 30mm tyre.

  • Hey, what, who, where am I?

  • Ah, it's @scultura, we've chatted already. Kinesis 4S Disc.

  • Yep, I'm running exactly that setup. I think you can get up to 34/35mm but without guards. Saying that, it looks like there's plenty of space for more than 30's even with.
