  • More transparency wouldn't hurt. If the president of the race jury explained the decisions in person, including the reasoning, people would be better informed.

The rules are vague because, sadly, they are written by a committee. Not sure how the UCI can change that, the whole structure is committee-centric.

  • They could have a committee on reform of the committee structure? Not sure how they'd choose who was on the committee though.

  • I'll defer to your world class and fully authentic tedium then

  • The joys of having amateur structures governing professional sport.

  • I dunno, you're achieving levels I can only dream of.

  • decent bit of popcorn here

  • The 'popcorn' is a lot more tedious than either of their comments

  • ^Tedious comment right there

  • I hope ASO are happy. This is what happens when stages start late.

  • Bernie, you may be beautiful, but you are wrong.

“What people have to understand and what makes me angry, is that we’re not here just to put on a show for television,”

Ok, it was originally created to sell newspapers, but that is the entire point of the tour, no?

  • Mesmerising

  • Landa's face from the end of yesterdays stage is terrifying. So calm

  • I'd love AG2R to smash sky

  • Is he looking for a free kick there?

  • didn't even open his mouth

  • Fuglsang's arm looks pretty battered.

  • But the rule isn't clear whether the offence is in simply taking a bottle, or actually drinking from it. I mean that's fairly fundamental.

And the most fundamental thing they need to do is get some ex-pros as commissaires, as the Sagan debacle showed. The race really misses him.

  • Looks like he's trying to keep his hand off the bars as much as possible.

Fair play for him trying to continue. But he'll be of no use to Aru.

  • Oh and some sort of appeal process.

  • I think any confusion there was my fault, I thought the rule was about consumption, so a rider could take a bottle and pour it over their head. But it's clear, you can't take a bottle from anyone in the final 20 kms.

  • Absolutely, sport is entertainment.

  • Just tuning into todays action. Would I be wrong in thinking that this sage has the potential to be the most exciting of this tour? Given that it's Bastille day and all.

  • Sky going to turn the screw today, to prove a point.

  • I'm annoyed they didn't let Barguil and Voeckler get away. Miserable bastards.
