Makes sense. I think after peaking for the Giro and trying to get ready for the Tour, you're even more at risk of getting a bug. These guys are so on limit they are susceptible to everything.
Can't imagine trying to do this kinda stuff while under the weather. I've got a very mild chest bug at the moment and thought twice about a 30 mile pootle this evening. I'm going to HTFU and nail it though. Just like Pinot and the Asatna guy with the broken arm and hand.
You're probably right, as you normally are. Just think he looks like the only one who has had and held form in both GT's. Look at the state of Pinot so far in this one.
Hope he gets the nod and some luck next year.
