Absolutely no reason whatsoever. Do it, and ride the shit out of it, it'll last forever and put a smile on yer face, surely that's what it's all about?

isn't the point being missed that the higher end groupsets do 'feel' the best anyway? not so much the weight

Went on a group ride with the my fellow volunteers from the local bike workshop co-op here in Aberdeen. We rode out to Braemar and stayed at the cairngorm club's cottage at Linn of Dee.
My mate brought his medium format camera and we tried to take a "standing bike" shot of my disc trucker. Not quite as easy a shot to pull of on an old school fully manual. camera.

I want to buy a black/56cm/700c Straggler but can't find anyone selling them online with stock, any ideas?
-
• #662
Appears new stock arrives early September. Try phoning the nice chaps at Keep Pedalling in Manchester, they don't list stuff ontinernet but may be able to help. Worth a go.

I’m interested in the Moloko bars. How are you finding them? Could you post a few more pictures?
-
• #666
I'm fine with them so far, the backsweep is much less extreme than Liz's fu manchus so I went for odi grips for now instead of ergos.
The horns are shorter than I envisaged them but you can def get a position not dissimilar to riding on the hoods.
They are fucking wide tho.

Any of you taller types after a Pacer?

Anybody out there got connections to or deals with Ison Distribution, looking for a Pacer 52cm frameset, checking their website brings up that it's been discontinued. Is this because Surly have changed distro, or awaiting an updated model?
Any info appreciated. -
• #674
Think it's getting to the end of the 2-year colour run for the Pacer so they're probably between stock.
You can ask any Surly-selling shop (KP...) or call Ison directly and they'll probably be able to confirm what's going on.

Yeah, was gonna call KP on Monday, didn't realise Ison would deal with non trade on enquiries. Will try them Monday. Cheers Andy.
I get the idea behind the pacer but I don't buy the argument there is no point putting light parts on a heavy frame.
If a steel frame works for you putting lighter parts on could make it feel more sprightly and handle better. Why wouldn't you want that?
