(Haven't watched the video in question as it has already been taken down...)
That is a stupid junction though, the two ahead lanes merge immediately after the bridge anyway, so it just creates a conflict while everyone is pulling away.
It's similar to the bit just before/after Chelsea Bridge (for those going East) which was 'fixed' (quite well in the end, and I say this rarely about the CS stuff) by the new layout with CS8 that joined Grosvenor Rd at that point. Similar problem, left turn only lane used by cyclists going straight on and then a road under the railway bridge that was only just two lanes wide and so cyclists were often choked out.
The fix was to make the left turn only lane straight on for cyclists too, put in an ASL and then make the road under the bridge one nice wide lane with a cycle superhighway on the left. (I'm ignoring the section of cyclepath on the pavement there).
I'm sure something similar could be done with the Cheyne Walk / Battersea Bridge junction.
It's on my commute too and sometimes I abuse the left turn only lane. Other times I'll queue behind a solitary car at the front of the middle lane (more likely to do this if the road ahead is mostly clear).

Yeah, this is nicer, although there's still two lanes up to the pedestrian crossing. I guess it allows more motor traffic to queue, but I'm not certain it's useful - there's still the inevitable merge, and it's not that uncommon for the entrance to the blue lane to be blocked in slow traffic.

Yeah, I've never used that either. I always forget it's there. I suppose it might be helpful for less confident riders, but rarely see anyone on there.
By blind spot you mean the area specifically covered by the nearside mirror, right?

I do abuse the left-turn lane there, because there's no ASL and often a queue of traffic (and almost never anyone actually turning left), but I merge back into the middle lane rather than just undertaking whatever's in front.
