Tweeted Pioneer US asking how to update the PM in the UK what with US support going radio silent when they found out where I was. Got a response via email about 5 minutes later from them with the .exe, just waiting for my dongle to arrive now...
Apparently later firmware versions don't need the magnet attached to the chainstay, which is handy as I've read that it falls off quite easily.
