I've got a Porlex mini that was my only grinder for ages but since I got an electric grinder I only use the Porlex when I'm camping. The electric grinder has a more consistent grind.
I'm going to be traveling soon for an extended period but having been spoilt with the electric grinder I don't want to go back to full time with the Porlex. I'd like a hand grinder that can match my electric grinder for consistency. -

Anyone here done an A/B test with the Zassenhaus Turkish vs the current darlings of the hand grinder world?

I've got one for grinding for stovetop.
It's good, the grinding action feels a bit light in relation to my old hand grinder, but you get used to it, doesn't take long to grind, and is consistent.
Had it for about 4/5 months, no issues so far.
Would recommend.
Is bigger than you think though.. -

Late response but you still after a Pavoni? My padre has two, and would like to sell one.

The Colombia v.nice brew, Sumatran with brekkie going down well too, getting green tea like flavours with it. Cheers again.

We are loving the Sumatran coffee in our household. All the Yellow Bourbon's have been excellent and extract amazingly well.

...and @dancing james
Thanks both, means a lot. Glad you're both enjoying the coffee. I will be cupping my first roast of the new washed Ethiopia this morning alongside the beautifully elegant new Nicaragua. They'll both be available as soon as the packaging materials come through from the printers. -

next order will probably be .5kg each of sumatra, ethiopia and nicaragua - though have a couple of weeks supply right now.
i am at home a little more than i used to be, but our coffee consumption has rocketed with your new beans, too damn good.

Nice one James, just give me a shout whenever you're ready.

@StevePeel - I would also be interested in trying some new coffees; I wondered what your typical roast level is like, though?
I bought a bag from the place you referred to upthread who I think you worked for and although the beans were great, the roast was a bit darker than I prefer.

Have had both the Espresso and Filter Mormora from Square Mile last week.
The espresso is another of those strawberry milkshake type beans when you have it in milk, not anywhere near as powerful as the one they had about 4 years back which was like undiluted krusha syrup but just a hint of it even through oat milk.
the filter I've tried in the hario cold brewer (70g to 700ml) which i took to work in a flask and have been having over a big glass of ice which was perfect. resisting making any more as I want to save the rest for my big race next weekend.
only annoying thing is since changing my grinder settings on the vario (large stepper only to keep my espresso setting easily retrievable) it's started throwing the grounds towards the front of the basket so the final few seconds of the dose end up avalanching down the front and i'm getting spillage which has happened before but was being perfectly well behaved for months.
i'll also note, my espresso grind settings for red brick are still unchanged from my post near the start of the year.

I accidentally ordered the wrong size set of gaskets for the Bialetti.
Anyone want to swap some 6 cup seals for 3/4 cup ones? -

Generally lighter side of medium roast.

Does anyone know how long you can keep some cold brew in the fridge for consumption once it's been brewed overnight?
-
• #12971
I read 10 days but can't find link...
-
• #12972
On the bit of paper that came with my Hario they say up to 2 weeks but flavour starts to alter a week.
But tbh I can't imagine a situation where you wouldn't just glug it all down in seconds unless you made some but got called away on emergency for a couple of days.

I've also sent an email for the coffee list.

Hi Andy
Sorry for the delayed response, my espresso blend is roasted light enough to avoid any carbon / ashy / burned tones but dark enough to not taste sour / tart / green.
At Bella Barista I would often roast a little darker as the coffee I was using was much edgier and would go sour if I wasn't very careful, but this is no longer a problem in my current situation. Plus it depends how recently the coffee you tried was roasted, as I can't comment on anything after about the middle of May when I ceased working for them.
The single origin coffee is roasted lighter and is calibrated for filter / imersion brewing so definitely not dark, but you need to exercise some judicious dialling-in to make balanced espresso.
Hope this helps

Very true, it didn't last a day last week even though I made 1L for two haha
In light of rhb's comment above:
Would go for the Porlex myself.
