Look where Cav is at the start of that move. His head is behind Sag's arse.
Consider their speed.
It's not like he's riding to work and doing a headcheck before changing lanes. -

Still paying good odds for Kittel to win the green jersey. Worth a punt really.
-
• #679
Well it was never on the tellybox like when Nibs did it, but the secret pro was unequivocal about it, so basing it on that.

Ah. The Secret Pro. The last bastion of journalistic integrity.

Please can someone make a "Tedious and pointless analysis of a an incident which is now resolved in a stage which is now over" thread, so we can talk about the Tour which is still happening in this one?

I've watched the videos, I've seen the photos. I don't think it is a DQ.
They collided, Cav looks like he did his bargy thing, Sagan looks like he was unaware Cav was going to be there (and barging), they collide, Sagan is unbalanced and throws arm (elbow) out to balance a fraction... but Cav had already lost it by that point and was already going down. I'm not even convinced that Sagan's elbow made contact, but from some angles it looks bad.
Cav's defence when he's been a shit in the past was always "photos don't tell the story" and "at those speeds".
Frankly I think that is reasonable and should also be Sagan's defence.
It's tough, and would feel unfair to us (mostly Cav fans) for Sagan to stay when Cav is knocked out... but sometimes shit happens and it's just shit happening. No real blame to be apportioned, so how can one DQ?
-
• #688
Well he was there, on the road and saw it, as where other riders who said the same thing. I wasn't, so fair enough to base my judgement on that? Also note the hashtag

Nearly != level
What's the human peripheral vision angle? He's looking ahead, he ain't gonna see him until it's too late.
Exactly what happens.
Non-intentional, no DQ. Decision is wrong.

Did anyone see that Sagan/Cav crash in yesterday's stage?
-
• #691
You mean the stage that hasn't started?
Get a grip.

No. What happened?

Not enough trolling. Needs more trolling.

If you're in the middle of a bunch sprint doing 60 kph and you go sideways, causing a crash, it's all on you.

So Cav should be DQ'd for moving away from the barriers? Griepel for moving over? Demare for moving over?
Wrong.
Moving over and causing a crash is not enough for DQ. It needs to be unnecessary and/or with malicious intent, a rapid movement to cut another rider off. This did not happen. Just moving in a bunch sprint and causing a crash is 'shit happens'.
