  • Litronics are not supposed to have amber. You're not preserving anything.

  • But the car is. Is the car the major component or is the headlamp?

Also, all other indicators are amber.

Finally, you ignored all the design comments.

    1 /10, try harder.

  • They just plug in.

  • .

  • Well this is now mine if I can get it started and insured.

  • New career: serial killer. @IR

  • Needs 'free puppies inside' decals.

  • I don't get it. If you are trying to keep it original, you have the original headlamps. Keep them. If you are switching to the litronics upgrade you would keep it as original as it would have been by keeping them clear.
I know the litronics are SO much better in performance terms, and they are my choice, but the orange film is anachronistic.

  • I am keeping the original lights, they'll go into bubble-wrap, in a box, on a shelf in the garage.

They can be replaced at any point, but they're definitely in second place with regards to light output etc so they'll stay on the shelf for a "return to stock" eventuality if I ever sell the car.

The amber indicator look is an integral part of the car, I'm maintaining that whilst updating the functionality of the lights in a non-permanent way that has no negative impact.

I honestly have no idea why you're upset by this.

  • Not upset, just bemused.

  • I wanted the better lights, I wanted to keep the car looking stock, with the aid of £30 of orange vinyl and a hair-dryer I have achieved both goals. Bosh.

  • Is the car still being resprayed?

    End of the summer.

  • It's had paint before, it's not like the paint on there is original.

Fundamentally it needs the rot under the door strikers dealt with, sadly you can't wish away rust so that's definitely going to happen, I'll take the opportunity to deal with all the other little issues at the same time.

You seem very focussed on money, why is that?

  • Every man needs an occupation.

  • And on a more serious note, why should I not restore my 996?

I want to do so, I have the money to do so. Unless the Daily Mail is about to tell me that 911's give you cancer whilst reducing your house price I don't see a downside.

  • You seem very focussed on money, why is that?

    Focussed on money you say?

  • is it your money? no? then why the fuck do any of you care?

  • I quite enjoyed the lucozade wrapper episode

  • Do the litronics look round corners too? Was demonstrating ours last night to Mrs Hammer who wasn't impressed.

  • Maybe some of us on here are trying to save you from yourself.

Ant that's the point isn't it. You think you know better and you think he should do as you would so you're sniping at him at every opportunity.

  • Wait I know. That's because he's an attention seeking cunt. And his car is a piece of shit no matter how often he washes it.

Worst thing to happen to this forum in yonks.

  • is it your money? no? then why the fuck do any of you care?

Because "Riddle me this: is it reasonable that I paid for the executive-hot-nuts-package, only to receive distinctly bronze-level snacks." is an open goal?

  • Do the litronics look round corners too? Was demonstrating ours last night to Mrs Hammer who wasn't impressed.

Sadly not, although I have recently been looking at replacing the Volvo with a Citroen DS which has this feature.
