Looks like Thomas will get this. His first GT stage win I think?

GT in yellow. Really happy!

Amazing

I had a nap. What happened to Porte?
Thinking it's the sort of TT that would suit a pursuiter like G

Sky dominate the top of the standings and Movistar lose a key man. Obviously still very early but not a great start if you're hoping for a tour full of surprises and upsets!

Well Thomas taking that was a surprise to me

Gutted for Valverde, not a fan but was really looking forward to watch him ride this Tour.

Did I hear that right: first stage win and first yellow jersey for the Welsh?

I feel worse for Ion Izagirre who is also out. Very happy for Phinney, hope he can get a stage.

• #114
what happened to Izagirre?

• #115
Jeez - G wins and the Lions on the same day - good day for God's country.

Slid on the same corner as Valverde.

Them gc hopefuls are gonna have to attack lots. Could make for good racing. Any stages with chance of crosswinds & echelons this week?

What happened to Cummings?

Broken kneecap for Valverde, apparently.

• #122
That's gotta smart

I was half joking. The psychological blow Froome landed today was immense. Everyone doubted his form coming into the Tour, he's 30 seconds up on all his rivals after one stage.

Yeah but the rain was a great leveller of form. Porte was shitting himself, G showed a boyo knows something about riding in the wet. Froome shows he can hold his nerve, like he does on descents now. His bravery and skill in a bike is his weapon as much as anything, something I never thought I'd say about him.

Sky 4 of top 8 = hammerzeit
Thomas still ahead, Tony Martin couldn't beat his time.
