Are they gpx routes or gpx track files? Easier to do it with gpx tracks files. You can of course open them with notepad and copy and paste to form a single track. If you put them somewhere I can join them using garmins basecamp which give a visual method where you can also snip and add bits.

I have three gpx routes that I'd like to snip bits out of to form one route. Is there an easy way to do this (I'm guessing gps babel is an option but not that user friendly)?
