  • Why do people get heel rub on their cranks? I obviously never do, being a straight and true bulwark of anatomical perfection in the feet & ankle department. But srsly doesn't it bother people to have the shoe rub every pedal stroke? Why not move the cleats a bit and that's that? Don't tell me it's about q-factor and stuff, more watts lost rubbing off anodising surely?

  • Some people's feet are angled different. I'm not bad enough to get crank rub, but if i pedalled with my feet parallel to my bike I'd fuck up my knees pretty quick.

It's not necessarily every pedal stroke. Feet are malleable, cleats have some float, even "Zero float" ones. Nor is it usually heels, if you look at where the rub is it's instep. Having a light instep rub one stroke in five but only when you're out of the saddle and applying high torque will take the anodising off over a season, but it might be only one stroke in ten thousand out of your total pedal revs.

  • As @mdcc_tester said. The evidence is clear on my cranks and shoes, but I never notice it happening.
