Anyone else noticed their site no longer seems to work with uBlock Origins installed?
If shopping carts aren't going to work with ad blockers I'm not going to be using them.

Bought a saddle from Evans. Went to put it on bike and noticed the rails were scraped, presumably from a previous installation. Am i wrong to be a little annoyed that they sold me used goods as new?

Of course!
Depending on the attitude of who deals with your complaint, getting anything done about it might be difficult: how can you prove it was like that when you bought it?

Mrs Sparky just bought a saddle from Evans. They told her to try it for a while and bring it back if she didn't like it. Great service for her, but someone would be getting a used saddle if she did that...

I would advised you to just return to Evans and explain your predicament, it sound like something that can easily be resolved.

what are peoples experiences of the East Dulwich branch?

I needed some spoke nipples for a wheel build, and like a fool popped into Evans in Spitalfields on my way home.
As usual, there weren't enough floor staff on duty, and as usual they were busy entering customers contact details into the till system, rather than actually serving customers.
After a good 10 minutes (which felt like a lifetime), a young man who was clearly new became available to help.
At first he didn't seem to know what spoke nipples were, then he checked the Evans Web Page to no avail. Because he was obviously new, he hadn't been fully indoctrinated into the company don't-give-a-shit culture, and he tried to be helpful.
He went into the 'workshop', and asked the people in there if they could help. Eventually he came out with a spoke nipple, and told me that they did have them in stock, but he would have to ask the Manager how to enter the transaction into the 'till system, as they didn't have a code.
The Manager (cunt) flatly refused to allow him to sell them to me, on the grounds that that would leave them with more spokes than nipples. I could have pointed out that I actually bought some spokes, without the nipples from them a week or so ago, but I just couldn't be arsed.
On the plus side, I did what I meant to do in the first place, and went to Condor, which is a proper bike shop. They sorted me out with 40 nipples, for which they didn't have a till code, so they let me have the lot for a pound.
In a nutshell, almost all branches of Evans are shit, filled with unhelpful staff who don't sell stuff actual cyclists need. Halfords is better. On the other hand, Condor on Grays Inn Road is an excellent bike shop staffed by helpful people who know what they are doing. Shop at Condor, not Evans.

Could be worse, evans could of been closed then you would not of had the second option.

You know what, I've had some shit experiences in Evans but the store at Waterloo (cut) has at least one decent member of staff and the one in Dulwich is actually great. Every time I've been in there the staff have been really helpful. The other day I needed mudguard stays cut down and it was done quickly and with no charge.

And Condor might of run out have nipples.

I use Evans St Paul's a fair bit to reduce the amount of incoming post at my work (price matchie CRC etc). They have 3 or 4 guys there that always remember me, know their shit, are happy to chat bikes and occasionally stick on a cheeky hip hop playlist (although i haven't heard this in a while).

One of their mechanics is a bit dodgy though

No experience there, i'm just one of those pricks who finds the cheapest price online then gets it through Evans!
TBF i've heard that said about some of the more expensive/independent shops in London.

One of their mechanics is a bit edgy, though.
Fixed.

Sound pretty terrible.

I will happily increase my support for Evans following their move to 'stop funding hate'. Any organisations that have the courage to act on their principles should be rewarded.

My footstrap broke today, and Evans C Wharf don't sell them. So the guy went in the back and took a pair off something (I'm guessing some pedals they weren't going to sell with a bike) and gave me them for free. Kudos, nice Evans guy!

My local Evans (chelmsford) have always been helpful. They have given me a skewer, a meter of shimano grey cable outer, put some fitting compound in a little baggie so i could install a press fit BB i bought, and a couple of those shimano chain pins for free over the course of the year.

Riding home today my left pedal came complete off the spindle and feel in the road.
I rode home with one pedal, took the pedals off the bike and didn’t have time to remove the foot straps. I jumped in the car and made it to Evans 10mins before closing.
I showed the guy the pedal body and spindle which he then took into the workshop. He comes back and says “they can’t warranty then because I’ve been riding them on a fixie”. (Never was never asked what kind of bike they were on). I told him it is a single speed bike. He said “we still can’t because the straps means I’ve been pulling up on them”. I asked him to explain what he meant but he couldn’t really justify it and just rambled.
They kind of half tried to put the pedal back together then just kept saying they can’t do anything. I asked to buy new pedals and my question was ignored by the 4 or so staff standing round. I understand it might of been after 6pm (closing time) at this point.
I was given all the bits back and just told to “have a look online and figure it out” and he kept saying “we are in a rush to go home.”
After looking closely at home the bolt that goes on the end of the axle is stripped completely.
Should I write a complaint email to Evans? Should I try to warranty them myself with Nike Proof?

So you knowingly went into a retail store ten minutes before they close and wanted an immediate solution or explanation to your problem?
Now you want to complain? For what? Being a bit of a Muppet?

Just buy some new pedals. You won't get anyone else to do it for you.
You are my wife AICMFP;)
