I'll try that... Bit academic as I've just powered up my replacement N5x and it's gone into the bootloop of death... I can't even get into recovery mode, it just goes back to the Google screen loop...
Time to buy an iPhone I reckon...
Srsly, NEVER buy anything from eGlobal... Fucking useless...

USB OTG cable for a mouse and screen mirroring after remote unlocking the screen? That was gonna be my method for a dead digitiser and dying screen but no USB debugging before I didn't bother. Only really need to get as far as turning debugging on then can get whatever you need off it.

Not a great afternoon really, can't retrieve a load of song ideas off my old phone and new phone is borked straight out of the box... LG Australia won't touch it because it's a US handset and a grey import, eGlobaL are next to fucking useless... Probably gonna have to take a hit on this one... #firstworldproblems

If you bought it with a credit card recently then maybe get the refund through them if eGlobal are being shit?

Xiomi Redmi Note 4 still a good option?

I'm happy with mine. Hardware is very good much better than the two most recent Nexus phone I've had. Software isn't quite as nice as Vanilla android but it isn't terrible. Battery life is excellent I usually have at least 20% left when I plug it in to charge overnight.

Ta, will likely order after payday. My Wileyfox Swift is really showing its age

I ordered one from a UK seller but got a global edition one which didn't have UK in set up options. Seems to work fine, but just a warning

Cheers for the suggestion.
Looked at the cheapo WF for my other half, so that's a good shout.
Going to draw up a bit of a list. I'm hoping the One plus 3 drops in price at the end of June.

Seems like my Dec 2015 Vodafone LG G4 has developped the dreaded bootloop.
It randomly switches off, needs the battery to be removed and reinserted to restart,
and,
some restarts only get as far as the initial homescreen, then switches off again.
Battery life has also been much reduced.Does this match other peoples experience?

Yep. It is a known issue. Mine had it. Sent it back they fixed it. But it got wiped and unrooted, bootloader unlocked etc.
I had to have a very satisfying email exchange with them about why my having unlocked the bootloader does not invalidate the warranty. Don't they know that I have watched many episodes of suits? I'm practically a lawyer.

Thanks for the reply.
Fixed, or, replaced?
Mine's unlocked so I can use my '3' sim card rather than one from Vfone.
Worked fine since? -
• #18540
Fixed, I believe. Although I didn't check the IMEI. Worked totally fine.
I would not be 100% sure that it will remain unlocked.

Can't get internet via my hotspot. Connects fine via wifi, but laptop then says no internet. Do I need 3G for it to work? Internet worms fine on phone.
-
• #18542
Yeah? You're basically sharing your 3/4g connection with whatever connects to the hot-spot. Like a little router plugged into the sky. Or am I misunderstanding your question?

I haz OTG and I haz dongle. Is there a way to provide nonstop battery power to phone while training through OTG. should be right?
-
• #18544
i.e what bit of plastic wizardry will do this?
-
• #18545
Yeah you are.
I connect to the hotspot, but on my laptop it says there is no internet when I try to go to a website.
It is not working, because my phone does not have a 3G signal? Or why else, as I can browse fine on my phone.
-
• #18546
If it's not got signal that would explain it, if it has then it could be various things. Are your network cool with the phone being used as a hot-spot? Some charge extra or need a setting to be enabled so could be blocking traffic.
-
• #18547
Yeah I have signal, I'm browsing on my phone, watching videos. But not 3G.
I am on 3 so it should work. I get 30gb tethered allowance. -

Have you tried turning it [your phone] off and on again?
-
• #18549
Are you using VPN on your phone? If so you'll probably need to turn it off.
Have you tried getting into recovery mode with the appropriate button combo?
