I can see the Volvo forum thread just fine.

Thanks chaps. Now, let's see whether then Venn diagram containing Volvo enthusiasts and those with 8k intersect.

There will be someone out there. Patience will be needed though.

Proof in fact of my point... I just paid a grand for a 306 gti6 with a known oil leak, completely faded paint and a nice dent in the rear quarter panel. There's always an idiot out there to buy any car, including knackered old pugs or well kept turbo bricks.

After much deliberation and chat re: 986 Boxster, my choice was made for me when the garage started work on the grey and white cars without telling me in advance. It's ok though because I think realistically I'd have just bought a shit 986 and had tonnes of problems with it.
Car's back on 4 wheels and waiting for a patch loom for the new ECU made by ECU Masters.

What could possibly go wrong :)
a) Can I fit bikes in it?
b) What actually can go wrong with these? -
• #35088
I'm trying to move away from that - the 911 is OCD central, the Volvo has also been subject to my compulsion to make it perfect, what I am looking to do next is to have a car that can be serviced, used and then sold in a couple of years when charging infrastructure is more commonplace.

Boot is pretty big and it's hatched with split fold seats so, yeah. Watched a guy pull out a bike and lemond turbo trainer out of one without much hassle.
No idea what goes wrong with them though.
Supposed to be super comfortable motorway destroyers though.

Was the bike without wheels or will a complete one go in?
-
• #35091
Seems like a lot of car for the money given the mileage which makes me a little wary.
-
• #35092
Complete one (with back seats down)
PH guide doesn't seem to suggest any terrible issues....
Looks are a bit challenging (I used to hate them but now really like it) which might account for the used pricing.
-
• #35093
I think what accounts for the used pricing is the same thing as on all big, fast, prestige cars: running costs.
A £100k car has £100k car bills even when it's £30k.
-
• #35094
Luckily none of my cars have ever presented me with a big bill.

Could you get the Jag XF estate with the big engine? That might be nice.
-
• #35096
Yes you could. But they ain't cheap:

• #35097
Dunno how they could get the ass so wrong on the Panamera.
-
• #35098
Yes you could. But they ain't cheap:
LHD, which might be handy for European tolls but inconvenient for getting out of the car-park at Heathrow.
I'd happily consider one of those, but a little cheaper would be nice.

It's really quite tricky not buying a diesel when looking for a large estate.
