  • Poor @hippy 's gooch. Keep it in your prayers today.

  • Judging by his twitter feed he might finish the ride with a red coloured saddle.

  • I saw that photo earlier, looks very painful.

  • Maybe if he put more power through his legs he wouldn't have so much weight on his arse!

This is where it all began. And now his gooch is wishing he missed this comment.

  • The question is just what hippy's referring to when he says 'bloody lumpy'. :/

  • "bloody lump" is a lot better than "lumpy blood"

    #pray4thegooch

Also another ~600 miles until he gets near here:-

  • Interesting to see if Michele Miani or Jose Bermudez can catch Janie in 3rd, they appear to be slowly closing, but might run out of road. Nice pic of Bermudez's set up:

  • Hippy 40 miles back on Lukas but then Lukas had 2 hours less stopped time last night (i.e. Hippy had 2 hours more rest).

At this point it's likely that pushing on for an extra x miles one day will probably cost you more than x miles over the subsequent days.

Lukas has nipped off the route to go to a McD's too, so hippy will be clawing some of that back early on...

  • ^^ Evan seemed to be carrying a lot less than a lot of other people...

  • Possibly only a bivvy, coat, arm/leg warmers and gloves.
With no dynamo he's carrying batteries etc up front. Can't be carrying much food. Be good to see a grid.

  • Absolutely mental! He doesn't even look tired :p

  • just what i was thinking. looking like a dude about to set off on a big ride.

    massive respect is due

  • And still stopping to greet dot-watchers when less than 50 miles from the end, making it look easy.

  • They weighed his bike at Newton and it came to just over 12kg, without water and food. Jon's in 2nd place came to around 17kg that was fully loaded though.

  • Experience helps. Knowing what you can get away without.

  • Yeah, one of his first questions at the finish was to Jon's family asking how he was doing.

  • Nope, coz I wasted much of that time tending to wounds that were fine had I left as is.

I stopped for pancakes because I needed coffee and fed up so any small time gained, lost.

Might do one list all nighter just to break him or me...

  • You're doing great Hippy, how are the dogs of Kentucky? Any problems with them yet?

  • So loaded only couple kg less than mine that armchair experts said was overpacked.

  • Yes, they're worse than Greece

Just throw Vince bottle That one

  • Coke bottle at one

  • Latest tweet from @hippy is that he has dragged his chain into his spokes. Sounds as though it may be a race ending move.

He did brilliantly despite all adversity. To see hippy suffer and struggle just shows how incredible those who have finished are. Incredible and incredibly lucky.
