Can we expect a drop in prices on current ultegra soon then?
No, Shimano never does that.

they're not cross compatiable

I think the cross ones are a slightly different fit as they're newer. I tried to buy some a couple of years ago for my 2012 Sram Red and they didn't fit.

Ah so no hoods that will match on my setup? Bollocks. Did sram ever make a carbon 1x lever for 10 speed?
-
• #5833
Those cross ones you linked to should work for the Force lever. I've got a spare pair if you're in London.
-
• #5834
Force lever already has that type. I was wondering is the red 10 speed right lever ive got would also take it, but doesnt sound like it will. How much do you want for the spare pair/how much do you want for them? I'm in London
-
• #5835
yeah you won't be able to get them to match if that's what you want.
You can have them for nowt if you can pick them up from W1 in the day or N16 in the evening. -
• #5836
SRAM S900 single speed levers are the same pattern as the original 10sp stuff. Or you can gut a broken LH shifter, the bodies and levers are identical. Force and Red and some Rival are available in carbon

Can haz if Turkish doesn't want?
-
• #5838
Sure

• #5840
I could sell you a pair of Rival Carbon single speed levers possibly. Right is scuffed from an ice incident but the left is in excellent condition. Will think briefly about the future of my tourer

• #5841
If they match aesthetically then sure. Potential price?

5800 cassette v 6800 cassette: does 5800 now have an alu sprocket carrier that will be less bitey on freehubs?
-
• #5843
New Claris groupset look pretty good.
-
• #5844
5800 have only the largest 3 sprocket with an carrier.
6800 have the largest 5 sprocket with a carrier (3 in one carrier, and 2 in one carrier).
My recommendation is to torqued up the lockring as well as putting copper slip on the freehub spindle, as not having it tight enough can cause the sprocket to bite more on the alu freehubs body, and the copper slip enable easier removal when needed.

chains looks a little dated

There's Rakuten shop with it on budget bikes already

I wonder if that still uses octalink bottom bracket as the previous claris.
Edit: quick Googling shows that it will use hollowtech 2 Bb.

Thanks chief. I'm sure there's a technique to getting cassettes off bitten hub bodies but I always throw my toys out the pram.
looks nice, i love the new RD designs. Lever hoods look comfy.
Can we expect a drop in prices on current ultegra soon then? I hope the Hyraulic DI2 set is cheaper than the current one for CAAD12 purposes
