Took the V50 to my trusted local garage today and set them loose on it. The AC regas was £50 and, as Dammit had suggested, the driver's side front wheel which had been losing pressure was as a result of corrosion, so they reconditioned it. They also took off all the wheels and removed the brake pads to isolate and fix the annoying squealing. This uncovered a damaged rear tyre, which I had replaced, and the fact that there was no grease at all behind any of the pads, so they applied all that. £272 inc VAT for all parts and labour.
