Actually it make more sense to have it on the Diverge which see more rough road than the Roubaix.
I can imaging how much easier it is to relax your grip on rough gravel road.
Admittedly it's moot when they went for 650b with clearance for 47mm tyres.

Hadn't seen 2018 model before tyre size comment. Still not convinced by the bouncy front end though. We've all got by for years without, seems like innovation for the sake of it, yes it probably works, but do we need it? I for one will be more than happy with my 3mm bartape, loosened grip and plush 40mm tyres.

Don't know why Spesh have added it to the new Diverge, current models don't have it, if anything I would have made a bit more clearance for bigger tyres, especially at the rear. As an otp bike I quite like em. But as you said, bit gimmicky.
