Indeed.
And Hammond won the race to the rock etc.
If I remember correctly, the other site used in Tcr last year, free route, didn't have colours. https://www.frrt.org/tcrno4/
And the Ipwr tracker page at curves website had different colours for everyone. Well, maybe not that many colours but plenty, and there didn't seem to be any logic behind them.

Do women actually perform equally to men in this race consistently or is Lael an outlier?

Sorry to hear that @gabes. He was doing well by the sounds of it. Thanks for the insight @skinny. If we are on the subject of the trackleaders website then I want to raise the pressing issue of the twitchy zoom on the 'race flow' section. Oh, and it looks like @hippy is stalking while others are sleeping though his Tweets are... a little concerning:
"Currently eating leftover salad from shopping bag with fingers. Struggle to stand again."

I'd like to see everyone the same colour, as we're all equal
The colors are not really an issue equality imo, pink is not 'less' than blue or vice versa. What can be seen as disturbing is 1) seperating candidates by gender (which can be useful and seems to be desired by some candidates themselves); 2) using binary colors/gender distinction to do so; 3) as @Cazakstan pointed out pink/blue plays on traditional stereotyping tropes which is lazy
Maybe the solution is to give every rider the ability to choose whatever color they want and feels happy with. Easy to find whoever you want then too

Possibly better to have all the same colour then a filter that can be applied to either highlight desired or hide undesired groups. can be split on different demographic info.

Fair enough. I've had a few (non cycling) women tell me it's properly sexist.
At women can compete on an equal with men in ultra stuff. But the point is, it's not about being a woman or man, it's just about racing your bike, doing your best, and you finish in the position you finish, regardless of sex.

Loving the videos @Skinny, really adds to the dot-watching. Just wondering if in the next TransAtlanticWay one you could give my friend Dan Massie a shout. It's his first ultra race in preparation for TCR this year. He was really struggling with knee pain a day ago but looks like he's turned it round and now considering going non-stop for 4th.

East should meet West today.
The only person going Westbound (Doug Haluza) and the current Eastbound leader Evan Deutsch are about 200 miles apart.

The use of pink and blue bugs me. Quicker access to filters in the map ui would obviate the need for colors at all.

"Currently eating leftover salad from shopping bag with fingers. Struggle to stand again."
The most under-appreciated skill in cycling is the ability to just eat any damn thing at any time of the day, hungry or not. Squishy brown banana, stale old sandwich, hand salad, etc.

Some of the stuff I've eaten. It's been horrible, but it's gone down. Calories.

Evan cycling off with those shopping bags is a highlight. "I'll ride slow".
-
• #666
I didn't enjoy that part
-
• #667
Yes. It was free with a second-hand jacket. :)
-
• #668
He's only riding half, then doing an Ironman somewhere

If it all goes to shit. It has. I want to finish.

I eat more than them.
-
• #671
No, not planned at all. But you know this now. I'll get it right next year :)
-
• #672
Cool!
-
• #673
Yes. Were you not here for TCR?
-
• #674
I was doing loops of town looking for food another Aussie Rod called me. We shared. It was beautiful

After 2 days though? Shermers Enthusiasm
Yeah, I think there are 2 issues.
Blue/Pink is so stereotypically cringe it hurts.
Separation is not needed at all, visually on the tracker.
I'd like to see everyone the same colour, as we're all equal. As lael has shown.
