Aha, good point - I think the hypers are the same price in 32mm that they were before, but yes, buyer beware!

What's the 23c/25c gumwall clincher of the moment? Something that will last a bit and ok for wet weather I guess with the outlook for this "summer".

@Nahguavkire Soma Supple Vitesse EX. As it happens, I have a BNIB pair surplus to requirement...

• #4756
Could be interested if ^^ isn't!

@MCamb @Nahguavkire they are 23c. They are little thicker than my personal fave Vittoria Corsas, but still very much a performance road tyre. £45 the pair posted, which is cheaper than trade.

Does anyone have experience on the difference between the 35 and the 40mm schwalbe G one?
Will be going to southern France for some gravel fun, and have no idea on the type of gravel. Will I be needing the extra plush of the 40m?
Setup is 700c with latex inners, 80kg total weight bike and rider. -

If there's room for 40mm, go for that.
Even on tarmac it's nice to able to relax on a rough descent with miminal vibration.

Thanks ed.
I'm planning to take the gravel route up Mt Ventoux, so I was actually more worried for the ascent than the descent :)
Since it is for pure joy and not racing I will opt for the extra comfort. -

Bigger tires grip better uphill. You can go with lower pressure too

Is it excessively wasteful to bin a pair of tyres after a season? Got a puncture yesterday and on inspection, find that the tyre is cut through, although a relatively small cut.
So I've put on a pair of nearly new Conti GP4k which will be ok for the summer, and now I have a pair of semi worn Michelin Pr04 endurance with a small hole and various cuts n scratches. I could patch up the hole and they'd be good for more miles, I guess... or could get rid of them.
What do others do?

I usually ride tyres until I get a puncture a week but I'm a cheapskate
-
• #4767
I fold them up and put them in my parts box, swearing I'll use them at some point in the future, then keep them like that forever.
-
• #4768
They do come in handy when you're building budget bikes for mates
-
• #4769
Puncture a week is non starter for me. Parts drawer / keep for cheapskate mates are both sound options though.
-
• #4770
Yeah I tend to build up a collection because they may be useful in future.
-
• #4771
I keep them as spare fixie skidder tyres

Other than the wtb nanos and the g ones. Anything else worth considering? My (new) ss can take a 42 but ive got guards to run. The bike has the stock 37s on there but im in the process getting the shop to order my requirements

Talking of used tyres .. I have G+ Corsa 25c that I was going to bin, I am guessing they have some life left. Free if anyone wants to collect from SE1.
I replaced these with challenge paris roubaix which come up 30mm on my rims and there is a very slight rub on rear brake, will I die?

Cheers, I have an old pair of DoubleFighterII on a bike I inherited, but wasn't sure if there was something more suitable. DTH look good though.
