I did the Chelmer CC Spoco 25 this morning. It was horrible.
Got off to a bad start by forgetting my Garmin, disc wheel pump adapter and chamois cream. Felt like my legs had nothing in them towards the end of the second lap, and I could really tell I'd forgotten my chamois cream, so I decided I was going to stop. I'd nearly caught my minute man by the end of the first lap, and by the end of the second he was out of sight again. I lost too much speed on the uphill drags, and the downhills were too twisty to get it back.
As I approached the S/F I thought about @umop3pisdn riding for 12 hours, canvassing for an 'unelectable' party on polling day, and the fact that I'd not got up at 6 for nothing, and carried on. Ended up with 1:05:09 which is actually my second best 25 time out of four. So not that enjoyable but could have been a lot worse and I'm quite pleased that I carried on.
Hope Andy's having a good ride.
