  • Alloy rims go powdery, I imagine it's the surface passivating in the presence of oxygen. Anyway- hard to get an airtight seal on powder. Get the wheels refurbed

  • Hehe. My old nail is low 180s / low 160s now I've thrown all the junk away. Lively to say the least.

  • Have you tried Adrian Flux? I pay £120 fully comp on an H reg Mercedes camper and they insured me from 26.

  • If you want to stop lusting after a C4S book a test drive in one. Drive there is your narrow car, then drive the 4S the same route out and back.

All desire to own one will be quashed.

They're too fat, the tyres are too wide, the turn in is lazy and the ride is too bumpy.

They look phat&rude but that is the only possible reason to get one.

    TLDR: Hefty no likely C4S

  • Ours should look similar to that when it's done. I hope. Not that I'll be doing any of it.

  • Ill just leave this here. My uncles latest project

  • EVERYTHING is held on my tape.

  • Dash is going in the bin anyway, I've got a second hand one winging its way to get flocked.

  • ....and this is bought.

  • Won't touch me due to age :(

  • Any Renault Espace/Grand Espace where you are?

Upto 2002, RXE and above have rear 5 seats mounted on continuous rails, allowing seats to be placed wherever you like.

Post 2002, not so simple. My 'The Race' Model has two positions for each of the rear 5 seats. Other models may have retained the continuous rail.

  • Some beautiful Aston Martins today at Brooklands. And a Lotus.

  • Nothing personal, but renaults can be as practical as they want, I'm not getting one

  • Wha dat last AM?

  • Proper wheels.

  • A couple of days late, but I'm your height and had the exact same brio seat when my kids were smaller. Wasn't super comfy but both V70 II and Saab 9-5 were ok. Btw don't get a 9-5 unless it's for nostalgia (I grew up in Trollhättan and figured it was then or never when saab folded). They're ok I guess and cost nothing now but the whole experience is a bit DDR really.

  • Interesting. I've got a friend that keeps waxing on about 9-5's but neither the mpg or interior impresses me, at least not in the later ones. Haven't driven one in a long time though so shouldn't say too much.

The V70II doesn't impress me either. The interior feels like a step backwards / sideways from the v70n.

But in all honesty, car buying can soon do one. It's fun for a few days but I find that it takes over all other mental activity after a while. I should just get something decent and be done with it. Unless someone here has a 2008 v70n classic D5 with dark interior, low milage and the bigger sound system to sell me please?

  • Lovely. Perfect weather as well.

  • It's a great big bucket of nope from me. Silver cars with gold centres never look right. Needs grey or black centres.

  • A dark blue car, on the other hand, would suit the gold.

  • I noticed the width of a C4S when I cycled behind one recently, (nothing heroic, just slow moving traffic).
The rear wheels appeared to wholly outside/beyond the passenger compartment.

  • Is there anything on this weekend? 😬

  • Had this as a rental for the weekend (17 Camaro SS.) It's got the same engine and trans as the new Corvette (6.something, 455HP.) Bloody quick for a car and handles in a manner far more sophisticated than you'd expect....much more sporting, corners very flat, steers sweetly, no brake fade driving like a twat on the twistiest, hilliest road imaginable. LOTs of grip and a clever computer. 8sp Auto in track mode with the paddles is fab - I've not driven a car with a proper double clutch set up but this has got to be close. Fast and sweet cracks on the upshifts. The engine sounds marvellous- 6.5k redline for a big V8 is impressive, revs out well too though I'd say the power mostly done by the high 5s. Midrange shunt is immense.

The only downsides were the transformer looks (it's much better in the flesh,) low budget interior (rental grade) and terrible visibility. Out the front, all you see is a massive bonnet bulge. It's extremely tricky to gauge where the corners are. The front A pillar is a pain in tight left handers and it's wider than Del Boy.
