I don't expect Corbyn to win no. He has greatly annoyed many people that supported him before, his opposition is weak and most Labour voters are Remain...
It's smart to do this now, before the true costs of Brexit have really hit, it gives Mayhem even more power. Unless some miracle happens and everybody votes strategically to stop Brexit.

This could be a very painful election. Shall we have a forum whip round and buy an island to live on?

This one will be cheap as chips if you can wait it out.

Unless some miracle happens and everybody votes strategically to stop Brexit.
This will happen then everyone will be so impressed with the socialist utopia that labour will be in power for decades and everything will be less shit.

By then it will have split into 4 parties that are fighting with each other but that's OK they can take one of each country ;)
(Northern Ireland has SWP, Labour Alternative, Worker's Party and a Communist Party...)

I'm voting for the Popular People's Front of Judea.

hoping Corbyn will turn out to be Trump
I'm sure that's in the back of their minds - that there'll be some upset that the polls don't acount for. Unfortunately I feel that the 'trumpist' event was the brexit vote a year ago.

Splitters!

What happens with my by-election then? Kinda tempted to get twatty Galloway voted in for a month or however long it'll be.

Get a load of kingmaker over here
-
• #1437
I assume he'll only be 1 vote short, what with all the standing around in his stupid hat outside a closed offy right next to the train station he's been doing.

Trump polling wasn't as wrong as it may look initially. US wide, the poll results where pretty much right, where they were wrong was a state level, and with minor swings that were within the error margins AFAICT.

It'll be called off, as it's due to take place 2 days after parliament will have been dissolved.
Dissolution of Parliament 2nd of May, by-election due on the 4th. Just hope the Council haven't spent too much on it so far.

I wish parliament was dissolved in a much more literal fashion.

"Having finally won control of the Labour party after three decades of Stakhanovite effort, what radical programme have these great revolutionaries pledged to the nation? Four extra bank holidays."
-
• #1442
The problem is that the four days they have chosen are not really when we need Bank Holidays.
1 March
17 March
23 April
30 NovemberThe March and April ones aggregate with the two Easter ones and are swiftly followed by the two May holidays. With an early Easter we will have five public holidays in as many weeks and at a time of year when snow is still a possibility.
The end of November is not really an ideal time for a holiday either.
Not sure ths has been very well worked out. Otr more likely the policy was chosen in the knowledge that it will never be implemented.

A bit late to this but the Scottish vote, as can be seen right now, is not sufficient to affect the outcome. If every single Scottish seat was Labour, we'd still have the same government.
What puts Tories in power, is the swing voters in the South East and what will have an effect in future is recent converts across traditional Labour heartlands who have come to the party via UKIP.

Let's hope Jeremy has a break and goes on a nice bike ride today, he's earned it.

Reading the first few pages of this thread when JC was standing for leader.
So many comments about how 'unelectable' he is.

• #1449
Well, he is.
