PowerPoint decks, all of which would be in varying states of edit.
I'd be looking at the MBP then. PowerPoint always runs like a dog, even on good machines. With mac I always spend the absolute max of my budget. This has generally staved off upgrading every two years. Current MBP is late 2013 and still strong. Good value and glad I specced it to the max at purchase.
In terms of applications for work I would have Outlook and multiple PowerPoint decks, all of which would be in varying states of edit. In terms of applications for home that would be potentially something for basic photo editing, and possibly sticking together GoPro files - my current MBA can't handle this so I don't do it.
Other than that a web browser with a lot of tabs- and everything running over a VPN.
