  • I must have missed the concentration camp chapter in the labour manifesto.

  • Racism and protectionism were common features of the whole of British society at the time. You've labelled that ""Labour" but even your own story shows the mistake in that because
Daily Mail. The Mail was a supporter of fascism before the war (some say that has never really changed) and has never been a champion of the proletariat.

In a similar vein, the unions colluded with British management for years to keep women's wages down. That doesn't make sexism a Union/Labour thing - the clue is in collusion. Sexism was endemic. As was the racism and protectionism.

  • That was part of the proxy war with the Soviet Union, not out of special friendship to Poland. These Brexit days, Poles in Britain are getting racist notes through the letterbox telling them to go home and that's the UKIP-voting Daily Mail section of society again. Or is it a secret Labour plot only you know about?

  • But if Labour had a young, charismatic leader without the Corbyn baggage, I think they'd have wiped the floor with the Tories (but May would've never called an election if they did).

    Sad but true.

  • what was the issue with chukka? He has a good music taste too, we'd be spared of grime ..

  • the Labour vultures in power tried to take my Mother to the cleaners, she fought back and won.

? What is this referring to?

  • If you were to tactically plot the best chance of a Labour win, would you make Corbyn look totally hopeless, bluffing May into calling an "easy" election, before trying to pull it out of the bag? I mean, I don't think anyone did. And chance is still slim.

  • Ask any UKIP voter if they would prefer to have a Polak as a neighbour or a muslim I'll ask you the same question who would you prefer as you neighbour?

Ok this along with asking Bruce his age = definite Troll. Where's that cursed ignore button when you need it...

  • I have both already. I've no problems with either. The Polish guy thinks my bike is gay, come to think of it.

  • ^ you're on 11 right now, we need you on about a 6.

  • This thread has been great. Perfect balance of reasoned discussion & humour throughout. Now added popcorn. Thanks.

  • that's no excuse for being a bit of a patronising tit tho, is it?

  • ok champ. whatever you say.

    go have a lie down.

  • Step away. Come back tomorrow. We'll still be here. At this rate you may not.

  • ayup.

  • @diable sadly Churchill wanted to gas 10's of thousnds of indians and was a die hard racist. Fact!! Tories are dirty slimy little creeps & maggie mayhen is an absolute joke. She is so weak & has been rumbled so many times telling lies &/or back tracking. The NHS has gone already, behind our backs. Nurses using food banks ffs! The police are unable to do what needs to be done. Officers using food banks. Parents fund-raising to help schools employ TA's and there is a lot more...

  • Fucking hell @diable, take a break m8.

  • Talk of taxing the dead. The tories fleeced my late father even though he left a will. They tax people even after they died on the estate people pay tax on all their life.

  • Well said Olly398

  • Ask any UKIP voter if they would prefer to have a Polak as a neighbour or a muslim I'll ask you the same question who would you prefer as you neighbour?

Fuck this racist shite. You're a twat.

  • My thoughts

  • what was the issue with chukka?

He pulled out of the leadership race because of the sudden media attention on his family. Can't judge him for that as I have no idea what that's like.

People don't like that he was partly educated at a fee paying school, sounds a bit posh, and is pro-business. Or in other words a red tory blairite. Shame because he's very sharp and cool in a debate, and under pressure in interviews, and we could have done with a bit more of that.

  • tommmmmmm. He is a joke. Ignore him mate. Sounds like he will lose shitloads if mayhen doesnt get re-elected...

  • Just got in from canvassing for Labour in Dagenham and Rainham.

Lots of Labour support, which is good, but the seat is going to be tight.

    Also:
-Loud BMW full of likely lads beeping and shouting "Go on Cruddas! Yes Corbyn!"
-Big big lad answering the door in just his boxers and then trying to engage in a conversation about corporation tax
-One of my colleagues being told "I'm never voting for that terrorist sympathizing scum. I hope he gets shot dead if he becomes PM."

    Should have done this earlier.

  • Don't buy this at all.

The moment Labour's support rocketed recently coincided with their manifesto. Pretty much the same moment the Labour Party stopped bickering amongst itself and got behind a decent set of policies.

Some smooth private school twat like Umunna would have given us some bollocks austerity Tory-lite and not have made a dent.

If Labour's support among the young has risen at all in this election, just look at why that might be, and the new energy that has come into the party. I never voted for Corbyn thinking he was the right man for leading the party into an election, but the recent swell in support has shown we're at least going in the right direction, at last.
