This seems like a fair summary of the situation!

I can't vote as a Dutch national (and I can't hold UK citizenship as NL doesn't allow dual citizenship...losing my NL one no sorry, and especially not now, though I do feel a tiny bit Norn Irish by now) so have to sit this one out alas.
It's horrible shitty weather over in Belfast...where I am, South Belfast voting area, the SDLP/Alliance/Greens all look good, so hopefully no pro brexit candidate gets in.
And if East Belfast loses their DUP seat for Alliance (the NI sorta lib dems) even better :)

It's a straight choice between having an opposition or not.
This is precisely what I've been going on and on about to everyone down here. But it just falls on deaf ears when this is your local MP:

If Labour had a credible leader they'd have won this election by a mile.

You mean one that appeals to those in the decimated non big cities? He's shown the message that resonates with people. Labour need to build on that.

Warning: the headline in the link is far more optimistic than the conclusion of the article.

Went to vote for my safe Labour MP this morning. Friendly old fella with a Labour rosette said he'd keep an eye on my bike. It wasn't raining.
Think that'll be the highlight of this election day. :(

• #2411
How can you be perceived as credible when the UK's rabid right wing media daily decimate your character and distort your record?
-
• #2412
I don't know. I'm trolling a bit, as I think Corbyn has had an excellent campaign and really upped his game. But if Labour had a young, charismatic leader without the Corbyn baggage, I think they'd have wiped the floor with the Tories (but May would've never called an election if they did).
I think the positives are clear though, Labour must build on them irrespective of the result.

A bitterly true statement. I'd like to think that at some point later today Ed Milliband will take a moment to reflect on his role in altering the destiny of the Labour party, and consequently, our country.

werd.
-
• #2415
Honestly I'm not sure that's even possible with the press basically printing whatever they want to make sure the Tories win. Anyone who steps up will be fair game to them. The only Labour person they didn't seem to mind as much recently was David Miliband probably because he's a Blairite.

This election would never have happened if Labour had a credible leader.
-
• #2417
It has been observed that if only Corbyn had devoted the same energy and enthusiasm that he has shown during this campaign to the referendum last year then there is a fair chance we would be in a different place.
-
• #2418
If labour had got behind their credible leader from the start they could have won

• #2419
^^+^^^ unverifiable pish doe

Good point

• #2421
I know, I made that point.

• #2422
Gosh. Imagine if labour had a credible leader.

• #2423
if labour had a credible leader my visa fees would be a bit less

• #2424
this election would never have happened if the tories had a credible previous 2 leaders.

gordon brown was as good a leader as may
uncredible
I wouldn't be surprised if part of the labour surge is them returning to the fold, though.
Whatever the outcome today, think best thing for Labour would be if the Blairites stopped shitstirring and the Corbynistas stopped calling them Red Tories, and instead they figured out how to work together to build on what's been achieved the last couple of months.
All the more so if Labour wins.
But sadly I suspect they'll go back to the internecine warfare sharpish.
