  • At least it's not on back to front!

    #slvlss

  • in my defence, I think I was prob checking my gamin at the time, I didn't spot the photographer, and was probably just enjoying seeing the speedo saying 60kph!!

  • oi!!

I haven't done one of those in nearly a year now!

  • A challenger appears.
Reading CC evening 10 on the H10/2, a second Hirame on the start line, this one is a Kyoto Super (refinished in a slightly darker blue than the factory paint) also in Ishiwata tubing but aimed more at an Audax/light touring market. 48/16 gearing and a 26:13 finishing time for 97rpm, about 10rpm more than I could manage on my Osaka Pro.

  • wheels look a bit modern!

anyone have any other hints and tips for the f11/10, looks like the wind is coming from the west on Saturday which my gut instinct is probably better than from the east?

  • I think so, when I did it a few weeks back there was a bit headwind on the last section which meant from the turn it was like riding into treacle. It's fast enough heading west after the first roundabout that you'll pick up speed anyway.

Look out at the first roundabout, visability is poor and you might have to brake, but there'll be a marshall there to signal if something is coming I imagine. Be careful on the second roundabout, it's a dual carriageway so can be dodgy. A van pulled out right in front of me and then stopped.

I still enjoyed it despite all that!

  • 2 x 4 mile efforts. No point trying to pedal down the hill.

Keep an eye out for the first turn, it comes sooner than you'd think. I had to cut right across at the last minute when I first ride it. If you lose speed at the first roundabout your ride is basically over. Carry as much speed as you can.

  • according to that I'll be slower than h10/22, not ideal!

  • I'm sure there's someone on this thread who can advise how to add some weight before Saturday.

  • wheels look a bit modern!

No more so than the WH-RS30s I'm using.

  • Go hard when you can pedal round the first turn.

  • Does anyone have a set of clipon bars that I could borrow for the 12?

  • I have some Token TK9741-2, cut down a bit tho. They are 34cm long with 3cm minimum insert from end of extension to pad/bar clamp. Fit standard and OS bars.

Will get you a pic if interested.

  • I've got some Profile Design carbon wrapped bars with arm rests you can borrow? They're not pretty but they'd do the job.

  • Took one anyway!

  • Does anyone have a set of clipon bars that I could borrow

3T Vola type in the parts bin with all the risers, with Zipp race bend extensions and some S-bends

  • Are they for sale as well as loan?

  • That sounds perfect - expect I'll need some stack from my road bars. When could I get them from you?

  • Are they for sale as well as loan?

    No

  • That sounds perfect

Sounding less perfect as I can't find the risers, which might mean I never had them or they're lost somewhere. That leaves about 50mm of stack from the base bar centreline to the elbow pads.

  • My small PX Exocet 2 is still for sale. Complete. 22 speed. Deep wheels. £800.

  • I see @Sainsburys_Ed is now quicker on his own than he was with Kate towing him around, fixing a problem on the CTT website PB record :)

  • Does anyone have any experience of organising an open TT event? Have been asked to try set one up for Sep/Oct for my uni next year. I'm a bit cynical if it can be done given the time available/inexperience of organising such an event. Could anyone share their experiences? Try set one up/avoid/too late
    Cheers

  • Start talking to your district committee now, most of them are likely to have promoted events before and can walk you through the process. The actual administration isn't too hard, the more difficult part is usually rounding up the necessary man power to help out on the day. Read the guidance notes, particularly GN10 as it gives a clear schedule of what to do and when.
