Gnarmac? Is this like functional minus racks?
-
• #928
it's like road bikes, but with fat tyres

I've just spent 9 days in Scotland with a mate who has these. Both gravel and road riding and he fecking loves them.

That's good news, there's a pair waiting at the post office for me!

Confusingly schwalbe have now launched a new lower spec g-one, without the onestar compound I think and a thicker sidewall. Not sure if they're tubeless ready either.

• #932
apparently still tubeless: https://www.schwalbe.com/nl/offroad-reader/schwalbe-g-one-allround.html

Guys, are there any carbon gravel forks, that would be able to tackle up to 40mm tyres on 700c, QR, either with non-accentuated brake pivots (as the discontinued enve canti cx http://blog.artscyclery.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/IMG_7880.jpg) or flat mount?
What I have in mind, is basically a monster-track. Somewhere along the lines of mash work, but with slightly more clearance and carbon fork.
At the moment, the new whiskey no.7 road+ fork for use with the niche long calipers looks like a good option, but it can take up only up to 35mm. -

Discs, thru axles and tapered head tube are the way forward so if building from scratch get that instead

+1
Although if you really wanna go all oldskool/hipster, go WoundUp: https://woundupcomposites.com/gravel-x-forks/carbon-fiber-gravel-grinder-fork/

• #936
have a look at promance forks

@Heldring yup, I see that. I'm in no way opposed to tapered headtube, nor discs. Either way, I assume that for the time being, I would use it mostly brakeless, fixed. Yet, the time may come, when I'll break the other collarbone or some, or try to ride something meaningful, when I may fulfill the braking potential.
And @Jaap, yeah, I'm aware of those, though I'm probably not willing to pay the appaling prices.
and @gillies I've tried google, but I'm still not sure what those are. -

Though now as I'm looking at them again, it's not that bad.

You could take a punt on something like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-Miracle-bikes-Flat-Mount-CX-Road-Bike-Fork-FK028-and-15-100mm-axle/32794950577.html

Looks good, the thru axle though. I would need to switch hubs then.

Thanks @facsimile @Josh @cake @Johnnyw75 I'm over the moon with it. Rides as well as it looks.
Yes snapped up off here from @YoYoYo and built with a mix of surplus garage stock and some new treats. The red thing was pure coincidence, not judgement as I had a "spare" CK BB in the man drawer (as you do) and the hubs have been switched from another bike as the hope hubs were the easiest to convert from thro to QR. And the mechanic in the bike shop that built it up for me had the chainring knocking about from his own personal surplus stock and did me a good deal on it. No way I'd have bought the red one otherwise but actually now it's all together I think it looks the nuts :)

Yep 35mm tubeless. Another bargain from my mechanic friend. Only ridden it once so far, a lumpy 70 mile road ride, and they were fantastic on the broken back lanes of Kent and Sussex at a little under 50psi. Looking forward to trying them off road next time out.
Schwalbe g one are good price at merlin at the moment- and you get 10% off for some reason so pair of tyres posted under £50. Seems good to me. Hope they're as good as people say
