  • You have a go at someone for making it personal yesterday, yet here you are doing it yourself today.

Play the ball, not the man.

  • He obviously wasn't on form-what's the difference if he admits it?

Dumoulin admitted he took too many gels after a day of the tifosi rabidly making excuses for him or blaming Movistar for an attack that Katusha made.

Dumoulin admitted he got caught out after tifosi spent the whole stage wetting their pants about a supposed piss stop attack based on heresay.

Dumoulin spends 22 post stage interviews saying he hopes Quintana and Nibs get knocked off the podium for not helping him chase down his other GC rivals. You think that's fair do's when even he apologises the next day...

And even when Dumoulin wins you're still wetting the bed over Movistar and picking at grammatical conventions or calling Dumoulin the leader?

Some might say that kind of entrenched victimhood isn't healthy... Good job Dumoulin's got a bit more humility than his fans eh?

  • Must have been. I thought yesterday Quintana didn't look like giving it all he had, just 3 pedal strokes whenever he was in front and Pinot doing slightly longer turns but looking completely exhausted every time he came off the front. Still, I'd think Pinot would have done a better tt, cause he's the French tt champ.

  • I don't understand the need to generate this false dichotomy of good and evil.

Dumoulin won, fair and square-it was an exciting race, but there's still a need to make it about some perceived slight on his behalf?

  • That was my main concern this afternoon. Thanks for the numbers

  • You've been bad-mouthing him for a week or two. Sorry if I came across as a tifoso during these days, you know, first win ever and all that

  • picking at grammatical conventions or calling Dumoulin the leader?

I'm not taking sides. I've not really noticed the argument that's going on here, so don't start having a go at me.

  • And even when Dumoulin wins you're still wetting the bed over Movistar and picking at grammatical conventions or calling Dumoulin the leader?

I didn't do either of these things, sunshine...

My point was that Quintana shouldn't cite his illness so soon after the race is over. He should have this "humility" you keep pointing to, and accept the leader.

  • Bad mouthing as in calling him PooMoo?

Sorry if my childish humour offends but getting caught short in the way he did is pretty funny and on the contrary I've also expressed my like and admiration for him too so even if I've expressed dismay at the rather unnessary polemica generated on his behalf I don't think it constitutes bad mouthing the man himself.

  • Again, quite a polarised conclusion to draw about someone who's being interviewed and asked to relate how their race went and directly questioned about their form... Again, you're the one that seems to be the authority on the comedy of manners that is contemporary pro cycling so you can draw your own conclusions-IDGAF.

  • Apology accepted.

  • Apology?

I see none. You're really determined to project attitudes and events that don't exist onto other people aren't you?

  • Jesus. I'd hate to see what state you get in when your favourite loses

  • Riding a one off TT like a national champs, is very, very different from riding one at the end of a GT.

I've been disappointed at Pinot's TTing in this Giro, over the past two seasons he's really improved in this area so I thought he'd do better than he did. I'd have liked to see him on the final podium today, but 4th in this company and a stage win is something to be proud of.

  • Yeh, I'm not sure what was up with Pinot on the ITTs but his form in the rest of the Giro, was so much better. I would be really interested in finding out why?

He lost 4:24 on both ITTs to DM but ended up only 1:17 behind overall. Crazy really.

  • It's just fucking bike racing you dorkz.

  • No, wait look, I'll write something really long winded and honest it's achingly side splittingly funny in a minute.

  • It was just my impression you didn't like him very much, and turned to sarcastic comments. Let's have a pint should you decide to move to NL, I'm sure we'll have a laugh!

  • Nah we all like Tim! He's been adopted after shitting on global television.

  • Anyone know what front (massive cog) that DuMoulin was riding?
Pinot just looked spent (and couldn't push as big a gear).

  • A 58 apparently.

Just been looking at his palmares, 16 pro wins so far, which isn't many, but the quality is quite something. 1 x overall, plus 7 GT stages.

  • I just didn't like how arsey people were getting on his behalf when it really wasn't justified by the reality of what was happening. If anyone doesn't need white knighting it's Tom who looks like he's just stepped out a Disney movie.

NL dreams look to be sunk for the moment although I'm still chasing down leads... A beer and a chance to suck your wheel will be high on my list if it happens though.

  • I really loved how time-trial played a such important role at this Giro and well done to Dumoulin to take this opportunity, most exciting GT in recent years.
Kinda brought us back to an "Indurain era".
