  • The bargain Rovals arrived today. "Loud" is an understatement..

  • Current guise of the road/all-roader. Non-oval chainring feels weird, especially climbing. Temporary cranks.

  • :-)

  • New handlebar day.

  • Is that why they were cheap?

  • This is awesome

  • Probably a combination of that and the fact they need truing

  • I followed advice/a suggestion from @mdcc_tester and replaced the Dura Ace track chainset with a Vision chainset.

I can now fit a 52t chainring on there which is great.

Corima four spoke is on the way to replace the heavier Hed 3 and mean I don't have to replace brake pads when I change wheels.

The only thing I'm still looking to change after that is the bars. I want some integrated aero bars where you can adjust the rise of the extensions as well as the pads, but I've got to save a bit before that I think.

  • You're talking about your Koga, right? Funny thing is, I've got DA 7710 chainset with a 53t ring on my Full Pro track. Mine's later year though (white instead of nemo).

  • 'less aero Corima 4 spoke'

  • Also less sidewind prone from what I've read. Descending at the start of the H25/2 on Saturday was horrible.

  • How much clearance have you got? Was your chainstay crimped?

  • Not crimped, tube profile might be a bit squared at that point. I checked the clearance and it's just a little over 1mm.

  • Swapped everything over from my old knackered blue Claud Butler to a newer, slightly less knackered blue Claud Butler frame. Such novelty having a bike that doesn't want to turn left all the time.

  • Loaded with 12kgs. Not sure I like it. Anyone want a custom front rack for a Cinelli mash work?

  • Alright, bought a frame made from 753, happy with it but rear hub is a job to get in, doesn't sit right in the horizontal drop outs. Measured the rear hub spacing on frame and it's only 116 mm, hub is 120 mm. What should I do about this? It's quite a big difference but then it's steel. Cold set possible?

  • 116mm sounds like a random width. From what I've read in the past 753 may not like getting stretched out..

  • It's 2mm for each stay, stretch it

  • 116mm OLN on a 753 frame... what was it intended for? some hub gears and coasters might be 116mm but I'd be surprised if there were many 753 frames made for these.....
Was this new frame posted to you?
may be worth a string check to see if one or other of the dropouts has been bent in transit

  • Supposedly it was 120 mm, it was posted so I need to check it with this string test. If it was bent, what are opinions on whether I can set it back or is it ruined?

    Cheers

  • I'm not an expert on 753 but I'm guessing that 2-4mm should be fine...

  • That's lovely, how you finding it against you're old rychtarski?

  • It's alright. Fairly light and solid. The steel Rychtarski was definitely more fun to ride though.

  • Changed the crankset, chainring and cog on the holdsworth

    Desperately needs silver wheels now

  • Managed to find a little time to throw some paint at one of my own bikes... it's not finished to the highest level but its an experiment that I think worked quite well.

Got the 75s on here for a song 'cause they had been scribed into with a compass or something...
