  • 'Glamping Sword' - I like that.
Just take the appropriate shank for the tasks you'll be performing and there's really no question.

Prepping game? Need gut/tendon hook and a stout blade.
    Firewood? Maybe a hiphophatchet.
General camping? Probably just a leatherman etc.

I've never thought twice about just taking the right tool for the job. Besides, everyone and their nans are tooled up out in the sticks.

  • Glamping sword, for those times youre in Glasto and need to defend your camp from the marauding beasts...

So if i had a folding with a longer locking blade and and a multitool for most things?

  • Seems legit to me.
I often wonder what people are intending to do when they get tooled up for a weekend in a campsite.
I lived in the woods for months in my old life with an opinel and mini folding saw and didn't get eaten by wolves...

  • The folding knife is to cut things the smaller blade of the multitool cant. Create tinder. A mini saw sounds ace though. And a battle axe to go with it.

  • Is the bike packing hatchet this seasons tin cup?

  • We can only hope

  • Thanks Pinterest...
On a side note, do prolly builds get ridden? That hatchets worth more than most of my bikes and probably my car.

  • If there was ever a man who could put that hatchet to good use, is you.

As for a prolly bike, I would like to make tourer thats used.

I've decided I want to start doing more camping. I am looking forward to coffee outside a tent in the morning around a fire.

  • ^don't forget the camping schnapps ;)

Makes sense for trail builders I guess although that Husky has never even been fired up I reckon. I like the bob trailers with shovel/pick racks added.
There were prototypes for that rack in one of BikeWanderers videos when he stopped in to omm's workshop.

We're wild camping for 2 weeks this summer, will take a folding saw and my pocket knife. Axe would be handy if setting up a campsite you're staying in for a week or so for making furniture n shit.

  • Is that a Carradice rando bag?

  • It turns out that you cant buy knives outside of the UK EDC laws even though I will be using it in specific and well defined reasons. Well, the couple sites I tried at least (not keen on become a 'person of interest' due to my search history. Stupid anti privacy laws.)

  • Such as? All the opinels are outside of EDC rules (they have a lock blade) and they're sold everywhere.

  • Not allowed

    Not allowed

    not allowed

I really dont like the opinel

  • Think their definition of lock knifes/blades is/are different.

Lock knives are not classed as folding knives and are illegal to carry in public without good reason. Lock knives:

    • have blades that can be locked and refolded only by pressing a button
    • can include multi-tool knives-tools that also contain other devices such as a screwdriver or can opener

^ The second one there does look pretty combat orientated with that tip. Wouldn't be surprised if it were classified as a "zombie knife". Think "flick knives" would be the issue regarding those above.

  • nope...

click UK friendly knives and youll see the real selection. Select any of the others, and in the pay section it will deny you as a UK law breaker.

  • Flick knives are out. in fact they are VERY illegal. I think any assisted opening knives are a big no no. As are butterfly knives and switch blades.

The last one looks mean, but the upper edge is actually not sharp. Just looks mean. I really liked that one... But can see the issue with it.

  • I haven't paid but you can get to the checkout page and put your postcode in to get shipping options and it all seems to work.

Are you looking at things that are specifically forbidden in the UK.
    There are three categories
    EDC stuff
Bigger stuff that you need a reason for carrying
Stuff that is illegal regardless of whether you have a "good reason" for carrying (butterfly knives, flick knives, etc)

  • Anything in red is forbidden when you check out

"The knife listed in red cannot be shipped to the UK"

try it again and you'll be surprised... almost only swiss army knives and Opinels are OK.

  • Does it really need to fold? Seems a nice dive knife or similar would give you a similar fixed blade

  • I was brought up to never use a diver's as a camping/outdoors knife. So its never an option.

But yes its an option. I was going to hold off on fixed full tang knife until after i got a folding saw.

I managed to get a knife I like from a prepper site. LOL. Definitely zombie apocalypse knife. Actually, looks more like Aliens type knife... But it'll make me enjoy whittling tinder from branches easier.

  • Those zombie knives are usually shit.

  • ^ that looks exactly like the kinda knife the yoots near where I used to live would carry. Almost exactly what I'd expect you to get.
I hate dark coloured tools outside as I tend to lose them. All my stuff is bright as fuck.

Buy this model of folding saw. Accept no substitute.
