  • Our survey was pretty useless but I just told the sellers what had been brought up in the survey and what it would cost. They didn't question it and we chipped the price based on it.

  • Did you get quotes or just do an estimate? What kind of stuff needed doing?
    Our survey has just come back and my internet research says it comes to ~£3-4k but there's nothing major on there... Worst is a bit of wet rot on a door/window and the garage fascia/soffits, and potentially refelting the garage roof. The rest are mainly preventative measures/upgrades.

  • I had boiler, some old windows, some damp (every old house has damp), guttering and roof was mentioned vaguely. But they don't see it and if you make the list seem sensible and reasonable with the costings then I think most sellers would be happy to negotiate on these things.
