what's the situation with the shifter?
-
• #114603
Dura ace bar end shifters mounted on bar ends moved to the middle of the bars.
I had no flat bar shifters in the parts bin, I'm going to invest in one as well as a narrow wide chainring for a 1x system

Yep, SJS Chromoplastic 35mm will do it.
I have some (bit tatty) you can have for nowt if you can pick them up from SW16.

I love it when parts come together..
I had the nitto bars and I ordered a Genesis Vagabond to fit them too.
Now I'm basically just waiting for the linseed oil in the frame dry and for wheel parts to turn up at my LBS.

Would 35 fit under and in a road frame/callipers?
-
• #114610
You'd have to measure your frame and callipers. Its a pretty true 35mm. My frame is an "audax" frame but designed to take narrow guards.

In most bikes it probably wont!

35c wont fit modern short reach brake calipers and race frames.

I was thinking this,
I'll get some photos of the clearances later and upload them for opinions. Thanks

You're talking about the tyres or mudguard?
No way a short reach brakes will clear 35mm tyres as you pointed out, but 35mm mudguard with 23mm tyres, maybe 25mm can.

The mudguard's actual width is 35mm wide.
The recommended tyres width that can fit with that mudguard is 25mm, maybe 28mm with a bit of a squeeze.
With mudguard, you'd need the mudguard's width to be at least between 7 to 10mm wider than the tyres.

Oh sweet then. So look for 32mm guards and squeeze em in! Thanks
-
• #114619
ahhh totally misunderstood you.. my bad.. thought you said 35mm mudguards fit easily into road frames that don't accept 35mm tires
I had some 28mm Gatorskins in 35mm SKS mudguards for about a year without any issue by the way

Finally cut off what excess steerer I had left and popped some summer tyres on. New bar tape and bottle cages. This thing is hopefully gonna get me up the Stelvio on Tuesday 😬

Nice ride man

did some changes on my nephews bike: I had an unthreaded steerer tube welded on the forks so it could take an ahead stem. I think he should change the stem for a -17° one.

Hi Wim,
What size is the seatpost on this frame? I have a cro-mega dx model non E stay and currently dealing with a stuck seatpost. Is it 29.4 or 29.8? -

I will check tomorrow!
Wim
My parts bin build, lots of fun!
Very stiff but squeezed 28c tyres on
