  • Crumbs in reply to @MultiGrooves
That Donhue step through is one of the most confused builds I've ever seen.

    Still no reply

  • Found this list on my searches which may be of use to others...

    Origin 8 Transit Ergo

    Sku: 34448 31.8mm 630mm 63mm 35º Silver Urban Riser Aluminum

    On One OG oversized

    alloy = 315g, carbon = 205g
    68mm tip-to-tip width, eqivalent to a 710mm conventional bar
    25° backsweep, 6° upsweep
    38mm rise, 33mm forward offset
    oversized 31.8mm clamp diameter
170mm of grip length at each end, suitable for grips, lock-on grips or bar tape

The mock up has an On One Fleegle.

I need to find out the rise of this bar. Find something with 20/30 mm extra and get the stem in a more common measurement of about 17º hopefully less. Also get the top tube rotated slightly anti-clockwise.

Fleegle = flat handle bar 0º

Any rise in bars = 100% benefit.

    ON ONE Marys
Meet Mary… Our classic alt-bar. We like to think of it as an extreme sweep riser bar. It's a bit odd, but makes a lot of sense once you give it a go.
    Rise: 37.5mm
    Width: 645mm
    Up Sweep: 21 degrees
    Grip area: 169mm
22.2mm outside diameter (MTB levers fit fine)
    Weights:25.4 bar clamp = 306 grams, 31.8 bar clamp = 289 grams
    Back Sweep: 25.4mm Bar = 70mm, 31.8mm Bar = 85mm

    ergotec Trekking MAS handlebar

Sporty trekking bar with a wrist-protecting bend of 47° and a moderate height of 35 mm. The special fine-grain steel alloy provides high strength and yet makes a reduced wall thickness for less weight possible.
    · material: MAS steel (microalloyed, high-strength fine-grain steel alloy)
    · weight: approx. 470 g
    · width: approx. 590 mm
    · handlebar clamp: Ø 25,4 mm

    ergotec Cruiser handlebar

Wide, raised handlebar offering an extremely comfortable sitting position.
    · width/height: approx. 600/60 mm
    · weight: approx. 295 g
    · handlebar clamp: Ø 25,4 mm

    Hand - elbow - shoulder - back
This chain has to be considered as a whole. Your hand position determines the position of the elbow, which has an effect on the high-strain zones of the shoulder. SQlab handlebars are not only designed to meet the requirements of a specific field of use, but also to realise a healthy and at the same time dynamic seating position on your bike.
    · material: aluminium 6061 T6
    · width: approx. 630 mm, height: 40 mm
    · bend: 45°
    · weight: approx. 295 g
    · handlebar clamp: Ø 25,4 mm

ergotec trekking handlebar - raised slightly

The special offset at the ends of this particularly light aluminium handlebar avoids overstretching of the wrists and prevents the hands from "falling asleep".
    · weight: approx. 265 g
    · width/height: approx. 610/35 mm
    · handlebar clamp: Ø 25,4 mm

  • So onto the forks. I'm looking for a disk fork. Guessing the frame will be fairly large diameter aluminium tubes, so I think it'll have to be a carbon fork to keep it congruous.

What is the deal with the tapering of forks? (i.e. 1 1/8" -> 1 1/4")
I'm thinking this will be classic external headset 1 1/8 all the way. I'd really like to keep the weight to sub 500g without having to spend a fucktonne of dough. Any ideas?

  • Looking to run a between 28 and 32 tire.

    700c

  • Sorry, Yes!

  • so the taper thing is the future? Good to know.

Makes me fearful for my 1" wonders...

  • Get a 44 mm or tapered head tube so you can use a tapered fork. Otherwise you're fucked for inexpensive options. There's the ebay one for £30 or something but just barely clears 28s i think, @bankiren had one on his kaffenback. That's 375 mm a-c. For 390-400 mm there's the kinesis dc37 or the condor fratello in the <£200 class and some aliexpress thing listed as available with straight or tapered steerer

  • Got one from Sam singular cycles in the end. The frame arrived a week or two back but with Armourtex shutting down I'm trying to sort out paint:

  • strong work, duratec makes one of the nicest alu bikes in the EU.

  • We're getting closer...

  • Firstly a massive thank you to every single one of you who took the time and contributed to this thread (as well as trying to understand why 'OG' desired such a large light weight step thru...)

A mere 19 months later and tadaaaaaa, or as Mr Grooves would say BOOOOOOM!!

  • Goodness. Terrific job.

  • I'm confused. @user62419 = mrs @MultiGrooves = fancy new bike owner? Great bike anyway!

  • Felt that @user62419 was more catchy than Mrs Grooves...but yes one and the same. Fair to say that Multigrooves has done stunning work, tbh i'm slightly awestruck.

  • ::Flexes bicep::

I've not seen the fully built up/ridable bike in person yet as Velorution were doing the belt drive but it looks awesome if I say so myself.
