Maybe the era of self driving cars will begin gradually with 'soft' controls becoming mandatory. Such as, you're still the driver, but you would be unable to floor the gas pedal anywhere inside Manhattan.

More likely automatic collision detection becoming standard.

Now reported as a drink/drug impaired driver. So probable 3 months inside and a year driving ban (assuming US is similar to GB), as opposed to 30 to life for a muslim or just being shot dead in the street if black.

What if the driver was drunk but Muslim? It would probably still be called terrorism.

East China Sea. Present Day.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-39971267
Two Chinese Sukhoi Su-30 jets have conducted an "unprofessional" intercept of a US aircraft, the US military said.
One of the Chinese jets came as close as 150ft (45m) to the US WC-135 plane and flew upside down above it, according to US officials cited by CNN.
The US says the plane was on a mission to detect radiation in international airspace over the East China Sea.
...
The intercept, which took place on Wednesday, was deemed unprofessional "due to the manoeuvres by the Chinese pilot, as well as the speeds and proximity of both aircraft," Air Force spokesman Lt Col Lori Hodge said.Clearly Top Gun was big in China too. That or Jerry Bruckheimer's gone for a more guerilla/cinema verite feel for the sequel.

What I don't understand is why he hasn't built a tunnel, or a rocket to fly out of the roof. Must have had plenty of time to watch all those films where they show you how to do that stuff.
Oh and this case is clearly very far from the Bashir case. VERY far. I don't think it deserves any parallels.
The abuse was not single but ongoing, sadly.
'Bashir met Karim in their native Pakistan and married her in 2013. The court heard that he berated her for wearing western clothing, tried to turn her against her own family, would call her a “slag” when she went out with her female friends, and repeatedly beat her.
The court was told that Bashir once struck Karim over her back with his cricket bat because he felt she spent too long talking to a friend on the phone, saying: “If I hit you with this bat with my full power then you would be dead.”
On another occasion, Bashir, who plays in a local cricket league in Oldham, Greater Manchester, forced his wife to take tablets and drink bleach, and told her to kill herself during an argument concerned with his going on a cricket tour to the Netherlands.
Karim eventually went to the police and said: “I did fear for my life; he told me he was going to kill me.”
