If we cycle into the city centre for lunch then cycle home, we will have done ~700ft elevation gain.

Wow.. I've done 20k or more without getting that high.

I've done 120 km with 100ft elevation gain, 700 ft to the city centre sounds crazy.

That's for the return journey which is just over 16km. We live at the top of a hill in Leeds.

My 1x10 around town bike has a 38t chainring and 11-40 cassette. I have yet to find a hill big enough to get me walking..

I took 50t front with a 10-42 to Colorado, no walking.

Zero clearance between pins and bushes on the model. In real life, the clearance would make the chain pitch long enough to introduce a bit of slack.

Just won this Concorde Astore on Marktplaats for 30(!)€ posted. Will probably build it as a 1X7/8 RGR summer steed.
