  • Your rear brake is rubbing. You aren't calibrating your equipment properly. You're getting a bit less sleep than normal.

  • It's the vernal equinox.

  • You realised who is Keyser Söze.

  • If I find out it's a rear brake or calibration, @TTM is getting a slap. Rookies >>>

Sleep shouldn't interfere with shorter turbo sessions. Cumulatively though it could be hampering your recovery.

  • It was such a good route! Went out with the boys from HEX; Sam is a machine. First time maybe ever that I couldn't compete up Anerley Hill in Crystal Palace by the end. Totally spent. Should try harder on most weekend rides.

  • I'd put money on needing some additional recovery. Or the vernal equinox.

  • Vernon who?

  • @dubtap @Sumo @TTM thanks for the advice, will see what I can do with those sessions before Nocturne!

  • your house is suddenly hotter

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Temp during a successful session last week were 63f vs 75f during last night failure.

So, bar training in the fridge (I have a big industrial fan already), while temps are raised is it a case of just working at a reduced level? Or at current levels and htfu until failure?

  • Oh, and lots of mountains being climbed mid June. Let's hope it's not too hot.

  • #hippyisalwaysright

Unless you can add more ventilation, remove clothing then yes, work at a reduced level. The stress on your body will be higher so ride slower and finish a session is better than bailing because you've fucked yourself.

  • Think of it as a bit of bonus heat acclimation.

  • Do you have a big fan already? Those 18 inch amazon jobbies are excellent at pushing the air around.

  • I have to start using two fans around this time of year. Although the warmer weather means doing this thing called 'training outdoors'.

  • Have you looked out the window today?

    Proper British summer this.

  • Yep, that's what i use. Was obviously just pushing already hot air back at me.

  • I had one of those fans pointed at me last night whilst doing an hour of microbursts on the rollers, had to get off twice to move it closer and turn it up. Still dripping.

  • Stuff some ice packs in your jersey. Have the kids bring you fresh supplies as they melt. .

  • It's been really muggy the past few days, with high humidity.

If the humidity is high, there is less possibility for your sweat to evaporate. And you can't cool so well. It's not the heat, but humidity.

  • I remember a tip about putting a bowl of ice cubes/ice packs in front of the fan.

  • Be better off putting a dehumidifier in the room.

  • Larger Sainsburys have own brand 18 inch circulators in stock right now too £30 I think they were

  • It's not summer yet so Britain has an excuse.

  • Power only dropping indoors though. Did 150 miles on Sunday and even at the end I was able to hold threshold and above without too much issue. Road power is getting there, just at the cost of indoor power. Obviously this is a good thing, except for the fact that for the three weeks coming it's pretty much all I have available.

I had similar, and in my case I was just burnt out mentally from indoor sessions after doing them through the winter. I just go out and do intervals on the road now / do TTs.

If the weather is shitty, I'll skip the session and do it the next day

  • Easy, there's already one in the room. will try!
