I go for the makeshift saddle bag technique! Handles over saddle nose, bag resting in groove at rear of saddle hanging over rear wheel. Don't have a better solution for the litre of lucozade though ;)

Anyone got any recommendations for a small rack top bag to fit on a salsa minimalist front rack? (Yes I know about the recall).
I normally strap a small dry bag there with sleeping bag in, but would like something more accessible, for food, charger etc.
I have toyed with switching to a rando bar bag but wantβ to see what my options are for the rack first.

I would.
I'm not into the wheels but other than that it's great. -

How accessible? like something to keep phone, maybe food etc. in it?
My main concern is that there's no back on that rack to provide extra support, so it may slide around if you were to go for a rando bag like you said.
Depend on the distance between the handlebar and the rack, an old school carradice saddle bag can work wonder, here's an example;

Lastly, given the footprint of your front rack, maybe a rack-top bag that's mounted on the front instead? something like this allow you to strap it directly on the rack with no interference with the handlebar, brakes, and most especially the shifter.

Yeah snacks, bits and bobs, maybe things like an extra layer/rain jacket, sunscreen.
I was considering ditching the rack completely and going for rando bar bag, but would ideally like to keep the rack and get a suitable bag/pack to strap to it.
How does that^ carradice attach?

Yeah this type of thing is an option. But a bit ugly!
Have bar end shifters that are well out of the way as I have silly bars, so shouldn't be an issue for any set up.

Yeah it's defintely ugly! but it seemed to fit your bill quite well, and lightweight too.
Reckon you can find a nice looking one with some elbow grease from Google, but the old cheap Alura Night Vision one is cheap and reliable.

Something like the BigXTop rando bag would fit your bill perfectly;

Plus... it's not ugly! double bonus, I used to had a Swift Industries one and it look real nice and pretty useful.

Carradice do a Super C rack pack, if that's the aesthetic you're looking for; the Super C bag Ed posted above looks like a Super C Audax, and looks to be looped onto the bars with some webbing straps and underneath with some straps (sewn on to the bag?) Doesn't look all that stable, but then it's not likely to be all that heavily loaded.

Have you considered continuing to use the rack as you have been but adding a top tube bag or a frame bag?
