yeah apparently it's shit.

Alien covenant absolutely expertly made, and acted.
But it's neither deep, some of the themes peter out, not a pure action movie. Doesnt add much to the universe either. I wish there had been fewer clichés and more depth.
I'm very picky though it's still enjoyable with a few absolutely fine scenes :)
For depth watch Solaris / Stalker etc. though.

!!! NO PLOT SPOILERS BUT DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW HOW SHIT THE NEW ALIENS IS !!!
Thought it dragged on, didn't have much of a story and what it did was telegraphed miles ahead, was riddled with shit one-liners of bad dialogue where it could only of been worsened if they'd turned and mugged to the camera while saying them. Was physically cringing as the cheeky nandos top banter contingent in audience hee-hawwed their way through the film. the 'evil' element was about as well put together as a bad guy who only appeared on a single episode story arc in the original star trek.
also baby aliens are not scary, they're more comedy than horror, every single one of the scares in the film drew laughs from the idiot section.
I genuinely preferred alien resurrection and alien vs predator.

I'm going to Nandos before seeing Aliens tonight...

They can lodge in your stomach and cause agonising pains before you explode and die in a spray of body fluids.

I didn't mind A:C, some bits were obvious, and it really isn't in the same league as Alien/s, but I enjoyed it enough.

I didnt mind promethius, it has many flaws but its enjoyable, thought with this they would head in to a more tenstion bases thriller even taking direcly from alien and aliens, with xenomorphs on the hunt. But nevermind. was sucked in by hype but wanted it to be good.

Just watched Covenant, better than expected. Fassbender was amazing, no surprise there.
A fair bit better than Prometheus and any other Alien film bar the first two imo.
Quite looking forward to the next one.

Valerie's week of wonders: Gothic surreal vampire fairytale..I think.
Full of pretty Gothic images (the Duke of burgundy borrowed from.thus period , but no heavy digital post processing / colours here, all real film) and sometimes somewhat heavy handed symbolism, but we'll worth a watch if you're into that sort of thing :)
Or if want to brag you've seen a Czech new wave movie :p

rings. it was ok, not nearly as awful as the critics made it out to be.

From an IT admin perspective though why did Samara have permission to change files and prevent deletion but not email access?

Innocence - 2004: Interesting slow movies about young girls in a boarding school they are not allowed to leave until they're about 13.
Slow, no big reveals or conclusions, worth a watch.
(More hamfisted symbolism but meh maybe ultimately all clear symbols become cliche after a while..)

Mindhorn - I'm definitely not in on the joke. I'm sure there are plenty of people that will love it.

Aleon Coventry: i thought the navel gazing origin gubbins was handled better than the actual running away from a space bastard stuff. Michael Fishblender does a good job.
it's a revenge movie.
there's also a shitload of recycled scenes.

Alien: Curvenant. Could not have been more disappointed after watching the trailer hype rise. Wasn't scary, and the best bits felt rushed while the shit bits dragged. Mikel Faschbenner was good though.
Don't fuck up Blade Runner, Ridley!

Thankfully Didley Squat has very little to do with 2049 apart from getting his name featured prominently.

Was worth it for the carnival/parade scene I thought.
Anyway, I hope this Alien film is as good as the other three.
