  • thinking about this, quite likely I'll be there :)

  • Cool.

Reminder that the path is very muddy for a mile or so and somewhat broken up in others.

I'd suggest 32mm tyres if you've got them.

  • yep, will be on an MTB with race kings, thanks :)

  • soon

  • Called in to work at the last minute, balls.

Enjoy the ride folks! Hopefully see you next time

  • big thanks to all. top ride in the sun!

  • You guys got lucky with the weather!

  • Yeah, thanks for coming along, that was almost entirely incident free, apart from the grumpy local and the police.

  • top day out
    thanks backstop

  • The first pic is just how close platypus came to emulating his namesake

  • ha! too close for comfort...

  • ^^ doesn't he just !

  • I did this again today, with an Eastern extension taking in Deptford/Greenwich/Haggerston, and also a bit more in Brent. Was lovely.

  • Nice, I'm thinking of fitting this in during half term, in about 3 weeks, I'll put a new thread up.
How was the tow path? Are there many bits shut for renovation?

  • it's all open, literally every bit, I was chuffed, got round the 80k super fast

  • Good job! What was the grassy section just before the GU junction in Brentford like?

  • I think I missed that bit, I cut through Greenford Park as I'd never been there before

  • New date, next Tuesday during halfterm

  • Thanks for posting that route. I'm very tempted to have a go at this but I can't do it this Tuesday, meh.
Does anyone know if there's any cafes or such along the route around the halfway mark? I'm going to have the munchies by that time as I've got to factor in the 17 miles just to get to the start point at Limehouse Basin as I'm out in Dartford.

  • Mates of mine run Big Boy cafe
329 Greenford Rd, Greenford UB6 8RE, a couple of hundred yards south of waypoint 39 on the above map.
All day breakfasts, specials of the day, burgers etc and decent coffee.
Even has a railing to chain your bike to.

  • That sounds super, thanks Mespilus.

  • I've did this a couple of years ago in May, there are bits just before the junction with the Grand Union ( Bulls Bridge ) that are muddy for 700/23 tyres. I used the south side of the Thames to return, as there are less diversions away from the river with not so many roads so safer and prettier, until you get opposite the Houses of Parliament then its tourists until you cross Tower bridge and pass by St Katherine's dock. Beware them cobbles in Wapping.

  • I'm out of work in 5 weeks time so I'm hoping the weather will be dry and lovely then. I'll be doing the loop on Scobswell, he's fixed and wears 700/32 Gatorskins.
