kind of regretting not putting 28s on my caad :-) there's enough of space at the front after all
plenty at the rear

I have a little bit of paint scrap on my carbon bike as the 25mm was just about tight enough, so that clearance look quite comfortable IMHO.
Maybe get the GP4000sII that usually come up a little bigger in 25mm? (more like 27mm on wide rims).

Yeh the variation of announced & real life size kept me hesitant of going for the 28s. And as my new rims are 18mm inner (up from 16mm) there was too meny variables to take chances of having a too tight fit.
but have to say those 2017 schwalbe pro ones are super fast! set up tubeless of course :-)

If your tyres are 25mm and the rims is 18mm internally, then they must be around 27mm by now, which is actually good news, especially with tubeless making it feel more like a 28mm, even 30mm.

If it's a 2017 model you will have plenty space for 28c.

most likely yes as the rims have 25mm outer width and the tyre is quite comfortably wider than the rim

Well, that gap is JUST about big enough to allow debris to go through, and just about enough room for wheel/tyre flex.
Not uncommon for slightly large tyres to write off a carbon frame due to rubbing on the chain/seat stay under pressure or even with a slightly tightened skewer.

Finally getting around to replacing the stock FSA cranks with some hollowgrams on my Caad 10. I've got the Si hollowgrams with the FSA rings that were fitted to the ultrega caads in 2015. My bike is the 105, also from 2015 which I think was the final run of the caad 10s.
I need to buy an axle, do I need the 104mm or 109mm? I'm planning to use the bb that came on the bike, will that be ok and do I need extra washers or anything?
Finally old chainset is semi compact, new one is standard. Will I just need to re index the front? Do I need a longer chain. Currently my bike is completely stock.

The 109mm axle and the BB30 DS and NDS spacers are what you need. Might as well get the cannondale bearing shields and a new wavey washer whilst you are at it.
I believe there's no difference in profile between the Si and SiSL2 arms.

Thanks for the response, is the 104mm spindle just for srm cranks?
-
• #8037
It's for the old Si / SiSL arms that have a slightly different profile. Using a 104mm axle with the new Si Hollowgram arms might give you chainline and chainstay clearance problems.

Thanks for clearing that up!

One a related note? Will the 109mm axle work ok with bb30a?
Cheers -
• #8040
Yes, although a different NDS spacer is required.
-
• #8041
Thanks for that. Newb question but I assume any stock 30mm axle spacers will work as opposed to a oem part?
-
• #8042
No harm in trying I suppose. Have a look at the diagram I posted on the previous page. The NDS spacer is shaped to apply pressure to the wavey washer so it might be worth finding something similar.

Have pm'd
