@heavisides what cork floor are you looking to lay? Tiles or Floating Floor?

I have 4 rooms finished out of 5, which are all on the same mains ring.
I'm going to have to move on to something else in the house before before going back to board the 5th room, is there a sensible/safe way to close the ring at the points where the plug sockets are going to be to enable the other rooms to function? The room will be locked and nobody will be able to gain access to it other than myself.

If I understand you correctly, I'd connect the cables together with Wagos or choc blocks, pop em in a wago/choc box as well if you like( or just cover with lots of insulation tape since it's only temporary), and put them in the back boxes with a blanking plate screwed on top.

@Tenderloin - good point well made, although time is of the essence - perhaps this is venturing into the arguably more sensible realms of 'get someone in to do it'..!
@Fahrgestell - tiles that i'll glue down, if i go with the Wickes ones (most likely, there are nicer looking ones here but four times the price) then i'll add another layer of some sealant to try and ensure water resistance around where the tiles meet.
edit - just seen these ones are on sale and have a much more 'natural' look, so think i'l give those a go.

Where to get pegboard from?
Have checked with our builder @CYOA and he got it from Chiltern Timber:
http://www.chilterntimber.co.uk/They also come recommended by @dbr I think...

Perfect, that was what I had in mind just needed a bit of reassuring it wasn't going to kill anyone/burn the house down!

That's good of you, thanks - shall check 'em out.

Overhauling this space in the coming months. Pretty much just smartening up to sell, so budget is modest. What I can't decide is what flooring to use... Probably going vinyl in the kitchen (again, budget) so whether to extend that out, or use another surface like engineered wood...

If I was a potential buyer wood would appeal much more

Yeah roman ones, or whatever they are called, custom made. Just had a pair made up for the bedroom. Slatted blinds were breaking yearly...

I guess you're right. I was going with the logic that decorating doesn't add value, but now tempted to do slate tile through the hallway and kitchen.

Currently having some sash windows installed, and using it as an opportunity to rethink options around blinds/curtains.
Current setup is Venetian blinds behind curtain tracks curved around the window bay. They are OK but I'm not enamoured with either.
Anyone got any experience buying and/or installing:
1: plantation shutters
2: ceiling-mounted curtain tracks (ceiling of the bay is pretty much flush with the edge of the architrave)I'm keen to minimise drilling into our nice new windows

Can't help you with the shutters, but for the ceiling-mounted track you're best off using a pro fitter I think - they'll bend the track on site to get it fitting properly. Think you'd be looking at something in the region of £250 for that (labour +track) - though that's a massive guesstimate based on my fiancee's experiences that I'm regaled with (she's a draper).

How much do you reckon it would cost to have a spark fit a new socket within a couple of feet of my consumer unit? I want to be able to plug shit in under the stairs where the unit is.

We've got plantation throughout, 2 bays, patio doors and a load of smaller windows. Got a local family firm (Shades) to do it. They basically attach a frame to the window and the shutters fix to that frame.
Yes, satin silver..what of it?
