dicki, excuse my ignorance but, as you say, the pitch was at Anfield. Liverpool own and manage Anfield. Why could they not have put the sprinklers on overnight or whatever it took to make the pitch play in the way that they wished? Surely they can afford it.
Excuses usually deal with something outside one's own control.
Or maybe I'm missing something. Please do enlighten me.
