Interesting article, though water:rice ratios can vary significantly across types. Jasmine rice needs 1:1.5 (rice/water). Brown rice needs significantly more water.
An alternative is to pour your water, boiling, over the rice then cover it with tin foil and put it in an oven at ~105 C.

I use the 10min simmering and 10min standing method, works well with basmati 1:1 with water...

I used that artical as a starting point as i always over cooked and made rubbish rice, good starting point for basic white rice.

https://www.johnlewis.com/tefal-rk302e15-8-in-1-multi-cooker/p231378165
Its great. And for £45 it has far more features than you'll ever need. Simple as hell to clean, not a huge appliance and coming home to perfect rice at the end of a day at work/ ride/ whatever is one of life's (not-so) secret great pleasures. (Especially when you fold in a raw egg and some nice herbs and make that classic breakfast dish).

Thanks for the feedback everybody!
I need a rice cooker not because I'm incapable of cooking rice, but because it needs to be done at events where there's no time to baby-sit the pot, and the rice needs to be "available" (hot, and in a nice condition) for the next 4-5 hours.
Been looking at the Tefal range as well, thanks @eyebrows -

I like the look of that tefal as well.
Do you think it would work in a cupboard or does it our our steam?
-
• #25934
Quite a bit of steam. But its seriously good.

..indeed it is. Thanks for sharing!
In the comments she mentions that she's mimicking the actions of a rice cooker.
And she's talking about one she uses, which sadly seems not to be available these parts of the world.. such a cool looking thing - -

I can have a look here in HK if you really want it ;)

That would be great!
Though I guess postage to Germany will render the plan moot..

That whole blog is another level! Awesome.
Only downside for me that there's no vegan recipes..

I am curious about the vegetarian tasting menu -

Do you ever use it for slow cooking? How does it fare? I'm wondering if I need the more expensive one posted up there or not...

What's the vibe on Pizza Pilgrims? Just opened oppo Canary Wharf and we've got colleagues over from Bulgaria who went to motherfucking Zizzi last night and want to try good pizza.

It's my go to place around work (Exmouth Market). I like it a lot, better than Franco Manca

Went last week, probably the best pizza you're going to get around there. Only had the pizza so can't vouch for anything else. Good bases: crust was soft and light.
Their website mentions Nintendo rental and table football, so I was expecting it to be raucous. Was fine though, all of that is downstairs I think.

Goddamn it was good. Much better than Franco Manca. They loved it.

Has anyone got an Anova sous vide? £40 off on the website meaning they're £100 is tempting.

You can also get an instant pot sous vide wand.
Spicy roasties with all the things
