  • Some wag on Twitter has said "BREAKING: UKIP wins control of Tory Party"

Which seems right now to about sum it up.

Electorally, May is playing a blinder. But she's pandering to views that make me and people like me feel genuinely worried about our future in this country.

    Fucksticks.

  • the Leave vote was pushed through by disadvantaged countryside & urban folk, purposefully disadvantaged by Tory Government policy, who don't understand how the economy works.

    ftfy

  • The Tory's kipper tendency has had effective control of the Tory party since 1995,

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_Party_(UK)_leadership_election,_1995

John Major trounced the lamentable John Redwood in a leadership election,
    but,
was unable to expel his b4st4rds.

Wonder who vets the propsective candidates list at Tory HQ?
Whoever it is, they have purposefully sent the Tory party down a kipper pathway.

  • It is very sad to see people who have voted Labour all their lives voting for the most destructive fanatically right wing Conservative Party that has existed in my lifetime (and yes, I remember Thatcher well but at least she didn't seek to destroy the NHS). It is even sadder to see some on the left apparently happy that they are doing so. Surely, if we are to stop the destructive policies of May, we have to hold on to Labour voters and win some who have previously voted Conservative.

    Or am I missing something?

  • In other news, UKIP have selected Boris Johnson as their candidate for Uxbridge. If he wins, they will, at last, have an MP.

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-backed-by-ukip-in-general-election-a3530371.html

  • You are missing the fact that although a John Major initiative, the last Labour government fucking rinsed the NHS with PFI deals. Labour don't care about the NHS.

  • Parliamentary pedant police;
    Uxbridge & South Ruislip,
the addition is important to remember a previous round of Tory gerrymandering.
(The London Borough of Hillingdon is an amalgam of Ruislip & Northwood UDC and Uxbridge UDC, previously clearly separated by the railway line now branded the 'Chiltern Line'.
Giving South Ruislip to Uxbridge, [which has a new 1200 home suburb being built on the site of the de-commissioned RAF Uxbridge], meant Pinner had to be purloined from the LB of Harrow, to bring Ruislip, Northwood & Pinner up to size).

  • I am not sure if the PFI deals were such a blatant intentional destruction as we see now... they are a huge waste of money though and didn't deliver better value for money/more accountability in all cases.

  • They are considerably safer than May. Who would you have us vote for then?

  • Tory. Strong and Stable.

  • 79% Liberal Democrat
    76% Labour
    73% Plaid Cymru
    71% SNP
    65% Green
    59% Sinn Féin
    54% UKIP
    45% British National
    43% Conservative
    41% Democratic Unionist

  • Foxes aren't vermin. Foxes are taking advantage of an unnatural thing. The concentration of herbivorous animals (prey) by another animal for profit or gain. There's no point trying to sell it as "the fox is eating the poor little lambikins it must be hunted and controlled" when poor little lambikins is going to have its life lived solely to make profit or provide nutrition or materials for humans. It's especially galling when control measures for the vermin are equally grimmers. And the people doing it have history on their side as the "owners" of land and get to gad about on their fucking horses clarting up the land and basically reminding those around the "natural heirarchy" of the area. I.e. On a horse, fucking rich, ride where we want, tradition.

Its not a London centric thing that people are disagreeing with you. I don't think it's "people on here don't like rich or posh people", people on here generally don't like people who they don't know but who appear to act like cunts. Killing an animal by using dogs and horses seems pretty cunty.

  • Emily Thornberry on Any Questions: "this election was not about a cult of personality... this is not a presidential election"

I think they are starting to realise the effect of a lack of strong leadership on how people vote.

  • A+ would nod head in agreement again.

I was unfortunate enough to be in Ross-on-Wye a while back as a bunch of wankers were leaving on a "hunt" or whatever they call it nowadays. People lining the street to fawn over a bunch of uppity muppets tooting horns and depositing horse shit everywhere. WTAF

  • What a load of bollocks. I am not advocating fox hunting. I don't like it, but I don't agree with Londoners dictating how people live their lives, which is essentially what you are doing here.

  • lining the street to fawn over a bunch of uppity muppets tooting horns and depositing horse shit everywhere.

What's wrong with that? It's a free country. Did they kill a fox?

  • And I'm free to express my distaste at a tradition that perpetuates the idea that being born into wealth and pissing about on a horse somehow makes you worthy of idolatry.

At least the tourists at Buckingham Palace are gawping at people who can actually control their horsies effectively

  • It's already been repeatedly pointed out that hunting is not the preserve of the rich, but a part of ordinary people's lives. You're free to be prejudiced and ignorant, but people will call you out on it.

  • I've never lived in London but I agree with Chalfie.
Isn't there a stand up routine about fox hunting being the least efficient form of pest control.

  • No I'm not. Im pointing out that the vast majority of people have moved on from hunting things as a control measure. And that the whole thing is based on protection of an asset owned by a ruling class and the ceremonial wrapping of the protection enforces and maintains the heirarchy of the system.

  • Gee, I wonder where all these ordinary people hunting were when I was growing up in Herefordshire and Sussex, because I sure as hell didn't see anyone but wealthy middle-class tories doing it, personally. And by the way cupcake, my partner's father's a farmer and he gets on just fine without killing foxes, on horseback or otherwise.

  • Otherwise it's all just fucking cruelty wrapped up "in you wouldn't understand you're not from here" as you drag around on quad bikes.

  • I don't know if you've noticed but we're having our lives irrevocably dictated to by people outside of London right now.
