White van tosser with a passenger blowing an air horn our of his window at any cyclists they passed (well, witnessed me and another fella up the road) at 6:15 this morning. Oh how I laughed. To busy giving him the finger to get the plate, plus we were going uphill.

Too busy!

and the moral of the story is,
She should have just run him over and claimed she didn't see anything, or sack of potatoes fell from the sky!

I can give them the names of a few of my local terrorist drivers, boardland fencing, Hopkins electrical, Viking projects. All your worst kind of white van terrorists.

If it's a white van then they're mentally ill lone wolves, not terrorists.

Not sure if this is the best place for it, but finally the government seems to have become aware of what we have been complaining about for years, how lenient the courts are to dangerous drivers that kill or injure cyclists. Hopefully the days of 'I didn't see him guv' being enough to get you off will be over.

• #7588
Will anything come of this report? Has the government responded?
-
• #7589
Sadly this is nothing to do with Government, only an APPG - not even a Committee. APPGs are pretty much lowest of the low when it comes to having any influence on the government, and the APPG on cycling will be seen as a collection of eccentric fruitloops by Grayling et al.
It's better than nothing I suppose, and all helps with a gradual building of evidence that change needs to happen, but don't expect any genuine changes any time soon!

Well at least it is being reported in the mainstream press. Its a start I suppose.

The comments section is, as usual, best avoided.
It's all no lights, no high viz, no mirrors, riding on pavements, rlj -

Almost got taken out by a Police 4x4 yesterday eve, and by almost I mean they locked up and I just scooted my rear wheel out of the way to avoid them slamming into the side of me.
Was crossing (on a green) over Tower Bridge Road next to Elephant Roundabout via the Greenwalk cycle crossing, the bloke in front sailed over and I rolled out into the road only to have the blue lights catch my eye to my right. I stopped as wasn't sure whether they'd try and swerve around and they slammed on the brakes and managed to start locking up the wheels, had one foot clipped in and just managed to squeeze out of the way. The driver had come steaming out of Elephant and Castle roundabout (at about 5:30pm) with lights but no sirens, absolute fucking joke driving. They briefly stopped about 50 yards down the road and rolled off, was in a bit of shock so didn't manage to catch their plates etc.

Nearly got taken out by a police van at a pinch point in Beckenham this week. Totally unnecessary overtake which came within inches of hitting me.
Caught them up at the next lights and the driver was reading texts on her phone.
What a f*&king shower.
Roadsafed just for a laugh.

• #7595
Seriously? That's some seriously fucked up shit. You should be reporting that directly to their station!
-
• #7597
Woow skills from the cyclist. hope the drivers been sacked and had his life ruined.
-
• #7598
^ yeah, I'd have been over on my arse. Good handling.

BBC go with "Van driver torments cyclist".
-
• #7600
Also "appear to show".
Ubercunt this morning, fuck off with your pointless, aggressive overtaking at pinch points only to not go any faster than me but still not give me any room, you were then obviously stuck in traffic as I sailed off into the sun with a one fingered wave.
